There have been some exciting things happening for the Vermont Tracking Program. The Blue-Green Algae Tracker was the focus of a new CDC video, we created a new web application that maps social vulnerability in Vermont, and with the help of data stewards from Vermont's
Cancer Registry,
Vital Records, and the
Department of Environmental Conservation, we added new data to the Tracking portal.

Tracking in Action
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) visited us in August to film a video on the Vermont Blue-Green Algae Tracker. The
Tracking in Action video series highlights how tracking programs across the country make important, lasting contributions to the health of their communities. The
Blue-Green Algae Tracker was highlighted for its success in using crowd-sourced data, bringing together partners across state agencies and organizations, and providing an information platform that helps improve public health. Check it out!

Social Vulnerability Index
A community's social and economic characteristics (poverty, education, age, etc.) can influence its ability to respond to environmental and public health hazards. The Vermont Social Vulnerability Index is a new planning tool that can be used to identify populations that may need more help in the event of an environmental or public health emergency.

About Vermont Tracking
Vermont is one of 25 states and one city funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to develop a state and national tracking network of environmental and health data for the public, policy makers, researchers, and agencies. The
VT Environmental Public Health Tracking portal provides these data in maps, charts, and tables as a part of the State's continuing effort to help Vermonters better understand the relationship between their environment and their health. Topics include air quality, climate change, public and private drinking water, asthma, birth defects, cancer, carbon monoxide, heart attack, childhood lead poisoning, reproductive health, blue-green algae, and radon.
