Supporting the safety and well-being of our entire community
March at Your YW
Can you believe we are officially one year into the pandemic? While we won't exactly be celebrating this anniversary, it's a good opportunity to reflect on the past twelve months and check in with each other. With many struggling from pandemic fatigue, we want to extend a heartfelt, virtual hug to our community and remind you that we're here for you.

  • YW Childcare is still open with full-time, part-time and drop-in spaces. Our amazing team is diligently following Alberta Health Services guidelines with limited class sizes, health screenings upon entry, and increased sanitizing schedules.

  • Following the provincial government's easing of restrictions, we're excited to announce that YW Fitness will reopen on Wednesday, March 10th for low-intensity, pre-booked workout sessions only. For more details on hours of operation, bookings, equipment availability and usage guidelines, contact Dana at fitness@ywcalgary.ca

  • And because we all need a little extra help at times, remember that YW Counselling services are still operating safely, and are open to anyone and everyone!

International Women’s Day at YW

Even in these challenging times, we're finding things to celebrate and look forward to. Today marks International Women's Day—a day to recognize the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, both across the globe and locally. Through our frontline work, we are privileged to witness first-hand the strength and resiliency of thousands of women. Who are some inspiring women and girls in your life? How do you #ChooseToChallenge the status quo? Come join the conversation on Twitter!

10th Annual YWHISPER Gala

Speaking of inspiring women, our 10th annual YWHISPER Gala will host an incredible roster of keynote speakers, thanks to our partnership with The Walrus. We invite you to join us on March 11 as we discuss the role of women and gender-diverse people in our economic recovery, unpack the challenges they face, and explore the opportunities that lie ahead for systemic change. Click here for more event details and tickets.

Suffice to say, the past year has been full of challenges. So let's celebrate the small victories, and support one another through the challenges. At the risk of sounding cliché, we truly WILL get through this together!
Thank you to our terrific (and tasty) neighbours!

Do we have the best community or what? To mark International Women's Day, our friends at Monki Breakfastclub & Bistro and Village Ice Cream have hosted fundraisers to support ongoing programming for women and children at YW Calgary.

Monki will donate March 5-8 proceeds from their signature Pink Prosecco Hollandaise dishes and Showstopper Mimosas, while $1 from every Village scoop on March 8 will be donated to YW Calgary.

Unmasking Imagination | A Creative Wellness Spring Break Art Camp

We're excited to partner with our Inglewood neighbours at the Esker Foundation and local artist Katie Green on this creative series that combines art and mindfulness! Not only will kids learn about portraiture and mask-masking—they'll also develop mindfulness techniques from a facilitator of our Mindful Moments program.
