Oyster Blueprint Is Now Available

The Gulf of Mexico Alliance developed an overarching strategy for regional data sharing for oyster management. It includes 1) stakeholder engagement to identify data uses, gaps, and barriers; 2) data identification; and 3) data connection through the Gulf of Mexico Open Data Platform. The strategy aligns with five priority habitats identified by our Teams: seagrass, oysters, benthic, salt marsh, and mangroves.

The Oyster Blueprint is the result of a stakeholder engagement workshop with oyster managers from around the Gulf region, held in January 2020.

Embrace the Gulf Campaign Delivers Positive Messages

The social media campaign continues to soar, no pun intended. New Facebook promos began this past month and people love pelicans and hummingbirds. This meme reached over 54,000 people and had more than 128,000 impressions. We see many of you liking and sharing. Keep it up. People are enjoying the positive messages delivered every day.

The campaign continues to rack up proclamations. Forty-five (45!) organizations, states, cities, counties, parishes, committees, and regional organizations proclaimed 2020 the Year to Embrace the Gulf. Keep 'em coming.
