TRACKING ISAIAS
According to the 5 pm Public Advisory by the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Isaias is moving toward the NW at 15 mph and it is expected to turn toward the north-northwest later today, along with some slow down in its current speed.

The storm is forecast to be over the Central Bahamas tonight and near the Florida coast Saturday afternoon through Sunday. Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph with higher gusts. Update on Village Services

  • All Village parks will close at 8 pm tonight (July 31, 2020) until further notice.
  • Village Hall and Public Services are closed to the public.
  • No other services have been suspended at this time.

Village officials will make any other determinations as more information is available regarding the landfall of Hurricane Isaias. Any changes in operation will be communicated to our residents through our website, emails and social media channels.

Update on County Services

  • COVID-19 testing sites are closed starting today, July 31, 2020
  • Bulky waste pickup scheduling and illegal dumping reporting are suspended.
  • Trash and Recycling Centers are open until 7 pm on Friday, July 31 and Saturday, August 1, weather permitting.
  • County parks will close at 8 pm tonight (July 31, 2020)
  • No evacuation orders are expected at this time.

NO YARD PILES

Please note that with the potential threat of heavy rainfall and winds in South Florida this weekend, yard piles should not be started. If this is the case, please note that the home owners will be responsible for the removal, if the County doesn't pick up in time.
REMEMBER TO SECURE OUTDOOR ITEMS:

Fasten down or remove all hazardous objects. This includes all loose items such as:

  • construction shacks
  • temporary toilets
  • roofing tiles and insulation boards
  • other stored materials
  • trash/ forms/ equipment
  • patio furniture
  • all outdoor loose items
  • protect openings
  • structures that are not secured
  • temporary electrical poles

Failure to comply may result in fines and penalties.
Village Declares Local State of Emergency
The Village of Palmetto Bay has declared a Local State of Emergency in response to the imminent threat of Hurricane Isaias. This declaration will activate the emergency plans applicable to the Village in order to protect the health, safety and welfare to the Village. The State of Emergency shall continue for a period of up to seven days.
