Name Engraving Deadline Approaches
The August 15 deadline to submit names for engraving on the Spirit of Freedom monument is quickly approaching. Originally dedicated on the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II, the monument honors and provides a perpetual reflection of local residents who served or presently serve in our armed forces during periods of armed conflict. A tax-deductible donation of $160 is required for each name to be engraved for veterans of World War II through Vietnam. Post-Vietnam names require a donation of $175.

Back to school can also mean back to traffic as buses return to our roads, parents hurry to get their children to class and teens drive themselves to high school. In order to keep our roadways safe, drivers are urged to slow down, be patient and pay close attention. Children should also be aware of their surroundings - especially when loading/unloading from vehicles and crossing streets. For more safety tips, visit the National Safety Council website.
