A quick instruction guide to parking lot etiquette to ensure lines of cars flow efficiently and safety remains top priority; please follow these traffic tips:
  • Buses only in the lane closest to the building.
  • Drop off/pick up from the upper lot -- right lane only.
  • The left lane is only for cars driving through or to park.
  • Drop off/pick up children from the far side of the mailbox only. If your car is behind the mailbox, do not ask student to enter/exit vehicle.
  • Parents are asked to stay in their vehicle.
  • Continuously Pull Forward- do not park or let your child out if the car in front of you is moving.
  • Reserved spaces are for staff.
  • Do not pickup/drop off students in the small side lot.
  • Rockwell is an idle-free zone. Turn off your engines as you wait in pick up lane.

These tips will ensure a safe arrival/departure and an expedited process.

FROM THE LIBRARY
Annual Dr. Seuss Multilingual Virtual Read Aloud Event in the Library!
Every year we celebrate Read Across America week and Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a Multilingual read aloud with his books printed in languages other than English. Normally, we would distribute Dr. Seuss titles in languages other than English (and English) and on the event day, Parents/children/peers would read them aloud for a group of students at the Rockwell Library.
As we are learning remotely, this year our event will be held virtually the week of March 1st, 2021.

Here is how it will work:

  • Parents/students (or classmates) express interest in participating and sign up for a book in their home language (see attached form)
  • Rockwell will check out the book in English AND the home language (to the student), then come to Rockwell and pick it up (email Mrs. Gordon to arrange a time or can come at Fetch)
  • Parents/Students will record themselves on FlipGrid reading the books (tutorial on how to do this will be shared later this month-once we have sign ups and books are distributed)
  • FlipGrid videos will be shared with all classes the first week of March, 2021.

Please have a look at the list, find a book in your home language, discuss with your family on whether you want to participate. Then email me and let me know which book you would like to read. I will add your students name/your name to the spreadsheet.

Questions? Feel free to contact me with any questions: shgordon@lwsd.org

I am so excited to continue to celebrate our students’ culture and language while reading these classic, fun books!
