FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Mr. Sanfilippo's Announcements

Dear Bassett Families,

We are off to a great start! It was an exciting and busy first few days of school for grades 1-4. This week we will welcome our kindergartners!
  • Kindergarten: Orientation is Monday, August 27. The first day of school is Tuesday, August 28.
    • If your kindergartner completed the summer reading and math programs, please make sure to submit the forms by Tuesday.
If you need to refer to my back-to-school announcements from last week, they are here  and posted in the Quick Links area of the Blast in Principal's Announcements.

Shown below is additional information I want to make sure you know.

Updated Lunch Menu Links
Lunch menus are accessible each week in Quick Links, but please note that the links have been updated since last week:

Attendance Announcements
Attendance Policy Letter:
The attendance letter I sent via email on Friday is available here. This letter outlines the Westlake City School District's attendance policy. Please make sure to read this letter; we will keep it posted in Quick Links.
Attendance Phone Line:
If your child is going to be absent due to illness or be late, please be sure to call Bassett's 24-hour attendance line at  440.835.6331 by 8:30 am. Our attendance line  is automated, so it is necessary that you call this number and not the main Bassett phone number.
Planned Absence Request:
We realize there may be opportunities for your family to travel when school is in session, but you must submit the  Planned Absence Request form   at least 5 days in advance of the absence. We will keep this form posted in Quick Links.

Birthdays
Students are  not permitted to bring in food for birthdays. Treat bags must  not contain food. This policy is for the safety of all students.
  • It is not necessary to hand out anything for birthdays, but if you are looking for an alternative to food, suggestions are pencils, erasers, stickers, or something for the classroom such as a book or game.
  • You will have the opportunity to purchase a Birthday Book for the Bassett library in honor of your child's birthday. The Birthday Book form will be coming home soon.

Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
If you are dropping off/picking up your child by car, please make sure you are following our Arrival & Dismissal procedures. The map is here

You must enter from the  back driveway on Woodmill Drive and join the car line. Please display your name placard in your window at pick up.
  • Do not enter from Bassett Road to drop off or pick up.
  • Do not drop off or pick up in the bus loop. The bus loop is for buses and day care vans only.
  • Do not park in the back parking lot and have your child cross in front of cars in the car line, even if a parent accompanies the child

Please Note: With kindergarten starting, there will be more cars in the drop off/pick up line starting Tuesday. Please be patient.

Thank you for helping arrival and dismissal run smoothly and safely.

No School Sept. 3
There is no school on Monday, September 3 in observance of Labor Day.

For more date information, please refer to the Bassett Calendar (updated every week) and the Westlake City Schools Calendar for 2018-19. We keep these calendars posted in Quick Links each week.

Have a great week!
