The City of South Miami Commission is considering naming its newest park after Vice Mayor Bob Welsh, who passed away earlier this week.
Vice Mayor Welsh was a passionate advocate for natural spaces and had a long history of making our city a more beautiful place with the planting of countless trees.
The park (currently Ludlum Glades Park) is located at 7435 SW 66 avenue. It was acquired by the city about a year ago, and was the topic of public workshops. This is the same park where a public memorial service for Welsh will be held on March 3. Please be advised masks and appropriate social distancing will be followed as per CDC requirements.
The vote to rename the park will be held during the Commission meeting on March 2 beginning at 7:00p.m.
