UNISON PRAYER - AUGUST 11/12

Holy God, the moment Saul regained his sight, did he catch his breath? Did he shout with joy, or was he unable to speak at all? Did he understand how You were moving in his life? How many times have we been like Saul? So focused on our agenda and what we think needs to be done that we fail to see what's happening around us. Forgive us for being so self-absorbed that we miss the beauty of a sunset or sharing a kind word with someone or spending time with a loved one. Forgive us for taking the everydayness of life for granted and not appreciating the blessings that are so much a part of each day. May the scales upon our eyes fall away, so that we may forever be aware of You moving in our lives! With humble hearts, we pray. Amen!

Join Jim and Martha Wood (and friends) for an old-fashioned hymn sing! Hymns We Used to Sing will feature songs no longer printed in our hymnal. Among the evening's songfest are: "Let the Lower Lights Be Burning," "Bringing In The Sheaves," "Love Lifted Me," "Since Jesus Came Into My Heart," and "I Will Sing the Wondrous Story." Moreover, a surprise song will be taught to participants. You will not want to miss this inspirational and fun evening!

Not all Sun Lakes UMW members can travel the world, but their mission dollars can through personal pledges.
A designated commitment from Sun Lakes UMW travels upward to national UMW, which raises approximately 20 million annually for global missions.
UMW is a group of ordinary women doing extraordinary things to make the world a better place! We welcome all women to join us here at Sun Lakes in our effort to achieve the global UMW vision of turning faith, hope, and love into action.

Did you know SLUMC has a library located in the Administration building? It is a nice quiet space to enjoy a good book.
The library holds over 3,200 books with several different sections. In the non-fiction section, there are many versions of the Bible, along with books about people, places, and events in the Bible. There are books about leaders in the United Methodist Church and about different religions. Authors in the this section include Max Lucado, Barbara Johnson, Billy Graham, Norman Vincent Peale, and Patsy Clairmont. We also have many devotionals, songbooks, and hymnals.
Our library has books about animals, computers, gardening, health, finances, retirement, home improvement, American and World history, acts of kindness and/or courage.
We have over 500 books in our fiction section to include books written by Karen Kingsbury, Thomas Kinkade, Philip Gulley, Jan Karon, and James Michener.
