A Conversation with author Judy Batalion
"The Light of Days: The Untold Story of Women Resistance Fighters in Hitler's Ghettos"

A cadre of Jewish women in Poland, some still in their teens, helped transform the Jewish youth groups into resistance cells to fight the Nazis. Judy Batalion's new book, already optioned by Steven Spielberg for a major motion picture, brings these largely unknown stories to light.

Jewish Takes on Climate Change: A Book Discussion on "We are the Weather"

Join a new four-part "lunch and learn" book discussion group and explore what three millennia of Jewish wisdom have to say about the central dilemma of our time - climate change. Together, we will read We are the Weather: Saving the Planet Starts at Breakfast by contemporary Jewish author Jonathan Safran Foer and discuss our role in mitigating climate change and repairing our world. This is a free event.

"Ask the Rabbi: Trust and Presence in the Face of Deep Uncertainty"

Anxious? Unsure about our collective future? Join fellow young adults (mid-20s to early 40s) for an informal night of questions and discussion with local guest rabbis, Rabbi Eytan Kenter (Kehillat Beth Israel) and Rabbi Menachem Blum (Ottawa Torah Centre), as they share the highs and lows of leading through a pandemic, and discuss how to cultivate trust and steadfast presence in the face of uncertainty.

Partnership with Tamir: Candle Lighting for Shabbat

Young adults are invited to join Tamir residents virtually to light candles, recite blessings and reflect on Shabbat together. Information on developmental disabilities and training will be provided. Volunteers will be encouraged to register for half-hour monthly Shabbats to build familiarity and rapport.

JFNA: Jewish Changemakers Fellowship for 20-24 year olds

The Jewish Changemakers Fellowship is a three-week online global leadership development experience for aspiring Jewish leaders, looking for valuable career development, networking, and one of the best summers of their lives. Changemakers requires approximately 12 hours/week and pays a $350 stipend for those who complete the summer program requirements. Convenient timing fits into most summer schedules. Two sessions offered: June 7-24 and July 12-29. After the summer, Fellows have access to ongoing leadership opportunities and professional mentoring.

Anthony Julius in Conversation with Adam Dodek

We are pleased to present a discussion between Anthony Julius and U Ottawa Dean of Law Adam Dodek. Anthony is the Deputy Chairman of the global law firm Mishcon de Reya as well as a noted author and academic, currently holding the Chair in Law and Arts in the Faculty of Law, UCL. Anthony has written a number of books including, a history of English anti-Semitism, "Trials of the Diaspora". Among others, he is known for representing the late Princess Diana as well as Prof. Deborah Lipstadt in Irving v. Penguin Books Inc., as portrayed in the movie Denial.
