Village Board Approves Repairs to Bridge's Cover
The Village Board has approved minor repairs to the bridge's cover after a truck collision on its east-facing side. The driver of the truck was cited for violating the bridge’s height restriction and disobeying traffic signs, and the driver's insurance company will be paying for the repairs. Fortunately, the bridge is protected by a steel frame and damage to the cover was only aesthetic. In reviewing ways to reduce future accidents, the Board passed an ordinance in January to change sections of Robert Parker Coffin Road leading up to and across the bridge to ‘local traffic only.’ Repairs will take place within a few weeks, depending on weather conditions.

All five LCFP designated dog parks are now open daily and offer acres of terrain for dogs to run and exercise off-leash with their owners. The parks are located across the County and feature large open meadows, mowed trails, parking, and other amenities. Spring Ahead for Daylight Saving Time
It's time to spring forward for Daylight Saving Time (DST) Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 2 a.m., when clocks should be set forward one hour. So, what’s the reason for DST? According to the Farmers’ Almanac, the idea behind it is so we can take advantage of more of the sun’s light (and less need for electricity). We are not really 'saving' time, but rather swapping out some sun in the morning, and enjoying it in the evening - as the days get longer as we move closer to spring!

Remember to check the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors: This time of year is a great opportunity and reminder to check batteries in your smoke detectors / CO detectors if they haven't been checked or replaced within the last year.
Egg Hunting with a Twist!
The Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association (HDLGBA) will host a traditional spring egg hunt that will look a bit different than in years' past, with families safely hopping from station to station to collect eggs. This free event is open to all ages and will take place Saturday, March 27, 2021 from noon – 4 p.m. at Brother’s Field, located on the southeast end of Stemple Parking lot across from the Chatterbox in the downtown. A fire truck and DJ will be onsite, along with goody bags and an area for photos with the Easter Bunny. Pandemic-specific changes are in place to help ensure this event is safe for visitors, volunteers, and staff. Families are asked to bring their own baskets and register in advance at this link. Organizers request that all participants wear face covers or masks and practice social distancing. Registered attendees will be automatically entered to win gift baskets donated by the Long Grove Community Church.

Due to COVID-19 mitigations announced by the Illinois Governor, please visit the HDLGBA website for any updates relating to downtown Long Grove events.
