Join us and the Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM) for a webinar discussing Medical Mistrust and Distrust: Past and Present on Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. ET. Speakers include Michelle Ogle, MD, FAAP, AAHIVS and Deborah Wafer, PA, RNP. Panelists include Sheldon D. Fields, PhD, RN, FAAN, Doris Browne, MD, MPH and Ace Robinson, MHL, MPH. AIDS Watch scheduled virtually for March 22-24
 AIDS Watch 2021 will be held virtually this year on March 22-24. This annual event, convened by AIDS United, is an opportunity for HIV advocates from across the country to meet with their elected officials about policy issues important to people living with and affected by HIV. It’s a great opportunity for ANAC members to participate in virtual meetings and discussions about important topics in prevention, treatment and social factors that intersect with HIV outcomes.

ANAC joins World Health Organization #VaccinEquity campaign
ANAC has joined the World Health Organization’s global campaign for #VaccinEquity. This initiative calls all countries to work together in solidarity to ensure that within the first 100 days of the year, vaccination of health workers and older people was underway in all countries. This call to action is a symbol of hope for overcoming both the pandemic and the inequalities that lie at the root of so many global health challenges.

Register for upcoming webinar on COVID-19 vaccinations
Join the University of Washington School of Nursing and Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing for a virtual symposium, Mission Possible: the vital role nurses play in the race to vaccinate, Wednesday, Feb. 24 from 1-3 p.m. ET. The event will feature leading nurse experts sharing their in-depth knowledge of the logistics, medical details and more of the COVID-19 vaccination program.

Sigma Theta Tau/ANAC grant application open through April 1
Sigma Theta Tau International and ANAC are currently seeking applications for a $2,500 Research Grant to encourage research career development of nurses through support of clinically oriented HIV/AIDS research and to increase the number of HIV studies being done by nurses. PCORI advisory panel applications open through March 31
Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI)’s advisory panel application is currently open for applications and nominations through March 31. The opportunity for nurse nominees to represent the unique and varied perspectives of nurses in patient engagement, clinical outcomes and patient-centered research is important. The advisory panels accepting applications include clinical trials, health disparities, patient engagement and others. View the recording of this important webinar on ANAC's website. Valuable information was shared on how this program's database can be utilized by researchers, including nurse scientists, post-doctoral researchers, doctor of nursing practice (DNP) students and others now and into the future. The recording includes a description of the data collection and the process for external researchers to apply to access the aggregate data for their research.

Vincent Guilamo-Ramos named Dean of Duke University School of Nursing and Vice Chancellor of Nursing Affairs
ANAC member Vincent Guilamo-Ramos, PhD, MPH, LCSW, RN, ANP-BC, PMHNP-BC, AAHIVS, FAAN, has been named Dean of the Duke University School of Nursing and Vice Chancellor of Nursing Affairs, effective July 1, 2021. Currently, he is Professor and Director of NYU School of Social Work Center for Latino Adolescent and Family Health and a member of the President’s Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA). We congratulate Vincent on his extraordinary appointment and wish him much success. 
Julie Barroso named to Julia Eleanor Blair Chenault Endowed Chair of Nursing at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing
ANAC member Julie Barroso, PhD, RN, ANP, FNAP, FAAN, has been named to the Julia Eleanor Blair Chenault Endowed Chair of Nursing at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She is a distinguished nurse scientist whose research focuses on people living with HIV and long-term survivorship. Congratulations and well deserved, Julie!
