1. Academics Spotlight
This week, Mrs. Mindicino’s sophomores used teamwork, critical thinking, and their knowledge of  Macbeth  to unlock breakout boxes in the library. After reading Act 3 of “The Scottish Play” and digging deep into Macbeth’s psyche, students worked through clues to learn what may become of the tyrant. Many teams were able to unlock most of the locks, but one team came out victorious before time ran out!

Thank you to Mrs. Brockman, our teacher librarian, for creating such a fun activity! We’re already looking forward to the next breakout box challenge!
2. Athletics Spotlight
Football beat Redondo 34-7 and celebrated our Senior Game on Friday. The team plays @ Leuzinger next week.

3. College Week Spotlight
College Week was a huge success thanks to our BTC leadership group and our College and Career Center. Students were able to relax and release some stress with a trained therapy dog and dress up in their favorite college gear. A PV High favorite tradition was the annual door decorating competition, giving teachers and their students the opportunity to show off their school pride. Thank you to everyone who participated in this competition and helped to make the campus spirited!
4. Senior Sunset Spotlight
ASB hosted the Senior Sunset picnic this past week. This event gave seniors a break from college applications and a chance to just hang out and relax with friends. It was a perfect sunset and a perfect end to the day for our seniors.
5. Photography Spotlight
On Thursday PVHS photo students attended a street photography walking field trip through downtown. Students took the Metro Rail into town, ate at Grand Central Market, then visited The Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Bradbury Building, The Colburn school of music, LA public Library, and the Biltmore Hotel. It was a great day to be outdoors taking photos and exploring.
6. Disaster Drill Spotlight
Sea Kings are all about safety and this week was no exception with our fall evacuation drill. All 1600 students plus staff practiced the different roles such as search and rescue, student release, and more. These drills give our students the opportunities to talk with our staff about the importance of safety and following procedures in case of an emergency. Thank you to everyone for doing a great job!
7. Wellness Center Spotlight
With a continual focus on overall student wellness, psychology students got the opportunity to have class in the Wellness Center and hear from our student support specialists. Ms. Nancy & Ms. Kelli gave a presentation on setting boundaries and how students can navigate setting healthy boundaries in relationships.
8. MUN Spotlight
Model United Nations completed their first conference this weekend in Cerritos. All of our students did excellent. Six students came home with awards for excellence. They are: Ryan Hetchler, Ameenah Leigh, Riko Negishi, Nicole Russo, Aidan Sun, and Vanessa Tran.
9. Student Spotlight
Grace Trester is a freshmen at PV high but is making a big impact on the community around her. Grace has earned her Girl Scout Silver Award and continues to work as a leader in the community helping a variety of PV and RPV retired residents. Grace's dedication to helping those around her reflects what it truly means to be a Sea King.
