Let’s Get Moving and Hit the Trails!

Join us for Arapahoe County's inaugural 5K TRAIL WALK/RUN SERIES celebrating Open Spaces, fitness and good health, and our thriving local trail system. We'll have prizes and free swag, light breakfast and booths at the finish line! All ages are welcome! You can also sign up for our virtual race and walk/run the trails on your own time!

DATE: Saturday, April 10
TIME: 8:00 a.m.
LOCATION: Arapahoe County Fairgrounds and Park (25690 E. Quincy Ave., Aurora, CO 80016)
COURSE: The traffic-free 5K course winds though the Fairgrounds park, along a dirt trail on the eastern plains of Arapahoe County. Enjoy a beautiful Front Range view from the Fairgrounds trail while you run or walk.

REGISTRATION FEE: 
  • In-Person $30; Virtual $20
  • Buy all four in-person races: $100 ($20 discount)
  • Buy all four virtual races: $60 ($20 discount)

Registration includes a race bib, swag from race sponsors, light food and beverage, and commemorative medal for in-person participants!

Important event details:
  • In-person race is limited to 200 people in compliance with public health orders.
  • Mask or face covering is required at all times for all participants 11 years or older, including while exercising on the course.
  • Exception: participants who cannon medically tolerate a face covering and have a medical exemption, and children 10 years and younger (though masks are encouraged).
  • Participants must maintain at least six feet distance from non-household members.
  • Rain or shine event; COVID details subject to change.
  • Staff will closely monitor the mandatory mask policy and flow, and can refuse entry or service if you do not wear a mask.

The Arapahoe County Fairgrounds Park is an Open Spaces property featuring incredible open sky views of the Front Range and Eastern Plains, multi-use trails, historic windmill, picnic tables and an expansive event venue.  
 
We can’t imagine a more incredible place for a 5K race! Come show your support for Arapahoe County Open Spaces trails, and the importance of physical activity, health, and wellness for all.

Our next 4-H Family Update is Thursday, April 15 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.

As the 4-H Fair approaches, we understand that you may have questions about what 4-H and/or the Fair will look like in the coming months. While we don’t have all of the answers, we would like to share what we know at this time. On Thursday, April 15 at 6:30 p.m., we will have a 4-H update via Zoom. We will discuss our plans for the 2021 events, club meetings, and County Fair.

You can register in advance for this meeting by clicking on the picture on the right.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Speech and Demonstration Contest CANCELLED!
The Speech and Demonstrations Contest that was scheduled for Friday, April 23 has been canceled due to zero registrations.

Please watch for deadline coming up for the Cake Decorating Contest! We have received a few for that contest so that one will not be canceled.
Learn more about the Heritage Arts Project and try out needle felting. Our very own Paige Canetto, who has a true talent, wants to help those that are interested or just want to have some fun. 15 spaces so sign up fast. Registration opens on March 1.

Supplies will be available for pick up at the Arapahoe County Extension Office by appointment only. Please email Jean at jwalton@arapahoegov.com after March 1 to set up an appointment.
