2018 KERN COUNTY WORKFORCE
SUMMIT & AWARDS CEREMONY
This years Kern County Workforce Summit “Path to the Future” addressed emerging trends, the future of workforce training, education, and skills gaps for our local youth. Our first forum highlighted the topics on Re-Focusing and Re-Engaging our local youth and the second on the Future of Apprenticeships and Internships in Kern County. We had Guest Speaker, Vinz Koller from Social Policy Research Associates and Keynote Speaker, Jamie Beck from Career Vision by Jamie.
Awards where given for Outstanding WIOA Alumni and Participants in the following Categories: Adult; Dislocated Worker; AB109 Participant; CalWorks Participant; Veteran, Farmworker, Youth, and DEA Grant Participant. MRV Service Air, Inc. and Barber Honda, where named our 2018 Outstanding Employers. Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you to our panelists, speakers, guests, and sponsors.

JOB & RESOURCE FAIR
The KernEMPLOY∙ABILITY Program continues to gain
interest from both Job Seekers and Employers. 

The program which is made possible through the Disability Employment Accelerator (DEA) grant, provides training and work opportunities for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. On Wednesday, November 7th a special Job and Resource Fair was available for Job Seekers and current program participants. Candidates had the opportunity to interview with Employers and learn about the different accommodations tools available to them like the AVA App, UbiDuO, and Video Phone. Employers present included the Bakersfield College, C&J Energy Services, Deaf Ability Resource, the CA Department of Rehabilitation, and Taft Correctional.
