Chesterfield COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard
(Data as of Tuesday, March 16, 2021)
During Wednesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, county staff, in partnership with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Chesterfield Health District, unveiled a new, robust COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard specific to Chesterfield County and the Chesterfield Health District that includes an estimated timeline to reach the county’s community vaccination goal of 75 percent.
The Chesterfield COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard uses data pulled directly from VDH daily and integrates the University of Virginia Weldon Cooper Center 2020 population estimates for Chesterfield and other localities in Virginia. The goal of the dashboard is to provide an interactive snapshot of the progress of vaccine distribution in the county and the number of residents who have been vaccinated. It also allows a side-by-side comparison between Chesterfield and other localities in the vaccination effort.

VDEM, VDH Launch COVID-19 Community
Vaccination Center in Chesterfield at
VSU Multi-Purpose Center
CVCs are organized by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) in consultation with local health districts and local governments; funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); and operated by turnkey contractors. Vaccination centers were initiatives planned from the beginning to support communities as more vaccines became available.
These sites are intended to augment work local health districts, pharmacies and healthcare facilities have been doing over the past few months to get COVID-19 shots into arms.
The vaccination sites are strategically placed to identify communities with the largest number of vulnerable populations, and communities with the largest percentage of vulnerable residents and greatest COVID-19 impact.
At this time, the VSU vaccination center is not equipped to handle unregistered residents who are seeking a walk-in appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine. People who show up to the VSU CVC that have not been contacted directly by VDH for a vaccine will be turned away.
Earlier today, James Holland (Dale District), Board of Supervisors chair, joined state and local officials to discuss the announcement. View that video on the county's Facebook page.

March Everyday Excellence: Taiwan Everette
On Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, Taiwan Everette did something far beyond the ordinary for a Chesterfield County code enforcement inspector; he helped a citizen experiencing a health crisis.
Parked on Route 288, the amber lights of his county vehicle flashing, Everette was operating a license plate reader system to find vehicle registration violations. Suddenly, a car passed by Everette, stopped about 100 yards ahead and began to reverse.
A man emerged from the car, running towards Everette’s vehicle. Thinking Everette may be a police officer, the man said he needed help—his passenger had fallen asleep and would not wake up.
Without hesitation, Everette ran to the car, where he saw an unconscious man slumped over the dashboard. Everette checked the man’s vitals, called 9-1-1 and, at the emergency operator’s direction, lifted the man from the vehicle. He began to administer CPR.

Meet Lochlan!
This energetic guy is Lochlan! He is a huge ball of energy and he loves to go outside and run around. He enjoys playing with tennis balls or anything he can play fetch with. He likes to prance around and show off his toys before he starts playing. Lochlan is still very puppy like and will need some training.
He gets very excited sometimes and will start jumping and getting mouthy. Because of this, he cannot go home with children under the age of 16. Lochlan seems to get along with other dogs; however, he will need to do a meet and greet with your dog. He is always on the go and would do well in a home with a fenced in yard.
Lochlan is a 1.5 year Pitbull mix and he weighs 73 pounds.

Hopkins Elementary Wins Breakfast Club Award
March 10, 2021
Hopkins Elementary School recently was named one of six Breakfast Club Award winners in the Commonwealth of Virginia for the 2020-21 school year. By demonstrating excellence in prioritizing the nutritional quality of school breakfast and for directing their efforts on relieving the hunger barrier so that students could focus on learning, Hopkins Elementary demonstrates Breakfast Club best practices.
The Breakfast Club seeks to work toward the Virginia Department of Education’s goal to increase daily school breakfast participation among free and reduced students in order to achieve a 70 percent average of school lunch participation. As a Breakfast Club recipient, Hopkins promotes equity in school meals by removing barriers through alternative breakfast service models, such as grab-and-go breakfast from kiosks placed around the school.
