About National Park Week
This week, we proudly celebrate National Park Week. National Park Week is a presidentially proclaimed period to celebrate America's park treasures. In South Florida, we are fortunate to be home to two of those national treasures including, Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park. Both of these gems are truly unique in their physical aspects, natural characteristics and its inhabitants. Hop on over to their websites by clicking below to learn more about them:

Village of Parks
Here in Palmetto Bay, we have our own parks to celebrate. The Village of Palmetto Bay is home to 5 park facilities, which include 1. Perrine Wayside Dog Park, 2. Ludovici Park, 3. Coral Reef Park, 4. Palmetto Bay Park, and 5. Thalatta Estate Park. Our facilities offer an array of benefits from passive to active, shady to open, expansive to quaint, earthbound to bay-front, recreational to educational, and everything in between! After all, we are the "Village of Parks".

Throughout the week, we will feature one of our park facilities and share with you a tidbit that you may not have known. We hope that you find this information useful and that you go out there and enjoy everything that our beautiful Palmetto Bay parks have to offer!

Perrine Wayside Park is one of three park facilities deeded over to the Village of Palmetto Bay by Miami-Dade County when the Village incorporated in 2002. Can you guess what the other two were? Yes, Coral Reef Park and Palmetto Bay Park. All three facilities looked very different than they do today. Not only did Palmetto Bay take advantage of the County's General Obligation Bond program and invested its allocated bond funding to park improvements, but the Village has been applying to grants to fund upgrades and enhancements to its park system ever since.

Perrine Wayside Park was part of the Village's first Parks Master Plan and it was assigned as a dog park following numerous resident surveys and planning sessions that were part of the Parks Master Plan process. In 2007, the park opened as a dog park and it's one of our most popular facilities.

This unique dog park is located on South Dixie Highway (U.S.1) south of 164th Street. Perrine Wayside is a lushly landscaped, 3-acre dog oriented family park where "all" members of the family, including the family dogs, can relax and enjoy the park atmosphere.

The newly enhanced facility features separate areas for small and large dogs with an attractive gazebo, new park furniture, and a large lake where your pooch can take a cool dip. In addition, the park features a dirt digging area and water wash stations for the digging aftermath!
