Please join AIER's Bastiat Society program in San Francisco for an event on economic policies. Mehmet Polatel and AIER's Max Gulker will speak on topics ranging from the Jobs Guarantee to the Armenian Genocide.

Max Gulker: "Should the Government Give Everyone a Job?"
Proposals for a federal job guarantee have gained popularity over the past year. This lecture and discussion will unpack these proposals, their likely size, cost, and economic impact.
Mehmet Polatel: "The Armenian Genocide and the Property Politics: Processes of Confiscation and Distribution"
In this presentation, Mehmet Polatel will discuss the processes of property transfer during and after the Armenian Genocide of 1915 and explore the links between economic policies and mass violence.

More about the speakers:
Max Gulker is an economist and writer who joined AIER in 2015. His research often focuses on free markets and technology, including blockchain and cryptocurrencies, the sharing economy, and internet commerce. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, especially on blockchain technology. Max’s research and writing also touch on other economic topics, including governance, competition, and small businesses. Max holds a PhD in economics from Stanford University and a BA in economics from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Mehmet Polatel's work focuses on the question of the confiscation of Armenian properties during and after the Genocide. He received his PhD at Boaziçi University in Istanbul. His dissertation titled, “Armenians and the Land Question in the Ottoman Empire, 1870-1914,” examines the emergence and transformation of the Armenian land question, assessing the links between the socioeconomic context, state policies and mass violence. He has co-authored Confiscation and Destruction: Young Turk Seizure of Armenian Properties.
