Come network with alumni of the Eagleton Graduate Fellowship and Undergraduate Associates programs. Panelists will discuss their current positions, career paths, and advice for students.

The event is free and open to current Rutgers students and Eagleton Institute alumni.

CYPP Team Accepts Rutgers Big Ten Voting Challenge Award
|
While in Washington, D.C., the CYPP team also attended the 4th Annual Students Learn, Students Vote Post-Election Summit.
Jessica Ronan, program coordinator for CYPP, participated on a panel titled,
"Expanding Access & Closing Participation Gaps," where she discussed the challenges unique to Rutgers students when it comes to getting to the polls.

Eagleton Fellows Meet with Governor Whitman
|
Eagleton Fellows in the Perspectives on American Politics course had the opportunity to meet with former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman this semester.
Gov. Whitman spoke to the graduate students about her administration, how to navigate state government, and the importance of public service.
"More than anything else, the course seeks to help the Fellows keep open minds about our government and political systems and to understand the important ways that those systems can be affected and improved," said Peter J. McDonough, Jr., who co-teaches the course with Joseph V. Doria, Jr.
Applications for the Class of 2021 Fellows will open during late January and will be due on March 27th. |

Last week,
Robert C. Holmes and Richard W. Roper,
editors of
A Mayor for All the People: Kenneth Gibson's Newark,
joined Rutgers students, faculty, staff, and members of the public for a book launch discussion and reception. Eagleton director John J. Farmer, Jr. moderated the discussion.
"The conclusion... addresses the mayor, the man, the time, and the place... We wanted to get the views of people who had been involved... either with Ken or with some aspect of Newark, and then we wanted to look across their reflections to see if we could paint a picture...of what might be regarded as the legacy of Ken Gibson, the first African-American mayor of a major Northeastern city," said Roper.
"I was inspired by a tradition in West Africa called, griot. [Griots] are called upon to hand-down the information from one generation to another. They are not historians, and neither are we. We are the griots and we brought together 40-some other people, so it's a collective memory, a tapestry of reflections and perspectives given to us by a large number of people. We hope that tapestry, when put all together, will paint a more appropriate picture than had been painted before," said Holmes.
