Join us today at the So Cool, So Just Social Justice Org Fair from 11-2PM in the Diag!  The fair is a great opportunity to connect with organizations on campus engaged in social justice efforts. Come learn about more about ways to get involved SCSJ Organization Fair!

Additionally, drop in will be cancelled today from 1-4PM.

CASC-MSW Preferred Admissions Program
Students pursuing a Community Action and Social Change (CASC) minor may apply to the Office of Student Services (OSS)  in the School of Social Work for the Preferred Admission Program leading to a Master of Social Work (MSW) as early as their junior year. For admissions criteria and additional information, visit the preferred admissions website.

So Cool, So Just is a space  for students to learn, connect, and network with social justice organizations. Each year, more than thirty organizations and departments gather to inform students about ways to get involved, share resources, and build community.

Latinx Heritage Month 2018 
Nationally, September 15 to October 15 is the month to recognize history, culture and contributions of people from Central and Latin America in the U.S. The Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs (MESA) has partner with various student organizations and academic departments to carry out month-wide social and educational programming celebrating Latinx heritage. Poverty Solutions Fall 2018 Speaker Series 
Real World Perspectives on Poverty Solutions introduces the key issues regarding the causes and consequences of poverty through a lecture series featuring experts in policy and practice from across the nation. Teach - In: Listening to Puerto Rico One Year Since Hurricane Maria 
Join The Office Academic Innovation to hear powerful stories of the events that occurred during and after the the Hurricane Maria. Freedom Riders: Film + Panel Discussion 
The Michigan Community Scholars Program (MSCP) and Ann Arbor District Library are hosting a film screening and panel discussion of the film "Freedom Riders". Freedom Riders tells the story six months in 1961 where more than 600 black and white Americans traveling together on a buses and trains toward the south to deliberately challenge Jim Crow laws.

Detroit School Series
This series promotes an interdisciplinary conversation on how research on Detroit can produce knowledge that is original and relevant to urban studies globally. The first lecture "Why there is no Detroit in Canada?" will be presented by Jason Hackworth.

FATE Program Volunteering 
FATE is a 4 year program for high school students in Detroit. It's mission is to provide resources and opportunities for undeserved youth to embrace education and become world-class citizens. The program is looking for volunteers to serve as mentors for the 2018-2019 academic year. The Workshop Facilitator position is an exciting way to spark change on campus and promote conversation with other students about social identities. We welcome both new/inexperienced and experienced facilitators to join CommonGround. This is an opportunity to develop your facilitation skills and to join a community of undergrad and graduate students committed to pursuing social justice through education at UM. 2018 CommonGround Curriculum Specialist
Curriculum Specialists will primarily s upport CommonGround and its workshop facilitators by improving and diversifying workshop content and activities. They will also work collaboratively with CommonGround staff to analyze feedback from workshop evaluations, research current pedagogy/curriculum trends, develop new resources, and improve facilitator training. Democracy Matters Fall internship 
The Democracy Matters Institute (DM) is a non-partisan, non-profit student organization offering a paid internship in "Organizing for Reform" to an undergraduate student on your campus beginning in the fall semester, 2018. They provide undergraduate interns  with a stipend of  $500 per semester , professional  support, a wide range of materials, funding for  campus activities, and opportunities to participate in  regional and national conferences. Funding Opportunities
Luce Scholars Program 2019-2020
The Luce Scholars Program  is a nationally competitive fellowship program that provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia each year. Applications should be from seniors, graduate students, and young leaders in a variety of fields (other than Asian studies) who have had limited experience of Asia. Boren Fellowship
Boren Fellowship are awarded to graduate students for the purpose of overseas language study, academic study, research (either Master's or Ph.D. level), an academic internship, or any combination of the above. In addition, Boren Fellowships can provide limited funding for domestic language study that will supplement the overseas component. Application deadline is January 30. Learn more and apply
