DRAGON TALES
OCTOBER 4, 2018

Dear St. George Families,
A number of years ago, while attending Mass, I noticed a former student of mine that I have not seen since she was in kindergarten. She was in second grade at a different school at the time. After recognizing me she asked, "What are you doing here?" Without hesitation I answered, "I'm here to pray." I was pleased to see that she was there with her family to pray as well.
We need to realize that it is more than just "going" to church - it's our participation at church and prayer relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And yet it is even more than that - it's our common union with all those with us at church that magnifies our prayers, giving us strength and comfort.
With all the troubles in this world today, there is no denying we need more prayers. In the words of Archbishop Jerome Listecki, "I want to invite you during the next two months to pray with me and seize this opportunity for us to pray together for peace and the family, to pray for human life, to pray for marriage and for religious freedom. For 54 days, we will join a national rosary novena. This powerful personal prayer can be said privately or as a family or in community. It can be prayed at home, in transit or in the parish...Imagine the power of our collective prayer. Our prayer gives us strength and comfort, especially when we place ourselves in the care of Mary our mother."
God bless you,
Jack Nelson
