Bowen was struggling in care. He was suspended from kindergarten twice for bad behavior and running away from the school building. His behavior at home was just as challenging. But Bowen came to rely on weekly visits from his advocate Christopher for structure and consistency.

Advocate Corleen Helwig's Dedication Has No End

Child advocate Corleen Helwig signed up to become a CASA volunteer hoping to affect the life of a young person in need. What she didn't expect was to find her own life transformed. Over the past decade as a CASA volunteer, Corleen says the volunteer role has defined her.

Builders and Sponsors Parade of Playhouses Closing Party

Dallas CASA thanked the builders, architects and sponsors of the 2018 Parade of Playhouses at The Closing Party July 12. The event was hosted by Design Within Reach at NorthPark Center and co-chaired by Dallas CASA board member Dave Kroencke and his wife Lisa Kroencke.  If you missed Dallas CASA's Parade of Playhouses this year, you can still enjoy all the houses at My Sweet Charity .
CASA Receives Northwood Woman's Club Grant

The Northwood Woman's Club named Dallas CASA a 2018 beneficiary, granting $50,000 to recruit, train and supervise additional volunteers to serve abused and neglected children.  Since 1996, Northwood Woman's Club has awarded grants worth almost half a million dollars to Dallas CASA. They've also supported Dallas CASA through National Adoption Day and Parade of Playhouses.  Since the civic organization's founding in 1968, Northwood Woman's Club has donated almost $5.5 million to Dallas-area nonprofits. The club was recognized with Dallas CASA's Cherish the Children Award in 2014 for its tireless financial and volunteer support of Dallas CASA.
Hope Supply Company's Diaper Support Critical to Dallas CASA

Beginning in 2015, local nonprofit Hope Supply Company began providing Dallas CASA with diapers. Volunteers who have children placed with relatives can bring a pack of diapers to the family, often becoming a critical source of support for family members who may not have been prepared financially to care for the child. Thank you, Hope Supply Co. for your support.

Dallas CASA  welcomes volunteers who have completed 30 hours of training and courtroom observations and are ready to begin serving abused  and  neglected children in need. Click here  to read the names of the newest volunteers.

The Kappa Alpha Theta chapter at Southern Methodist University will host its annual 5K run September 30.  All proceeds from the race benefit Dallas CASA. More details coming soon.
