Workshop: Writing a Killer Faculty Application
November 8 - 9
Getting a faculty position begins with the application. The application generally consists of a cover letter, a CV, a research statement, a teaching statement, and recommendations. While many graduate students and postdocs are familiar with how to put together a cover letter and a CV, the research and teaching statements can be trickier. At this workshop, we will go over what makes a good packet, provide examples, and help you with your application whether you have anything written or not. Space is limited, so apply early. Lodging and meals will be provided, you must cover your own transportation to and from Rutgers. Women and underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply.
Plan to arrive by the evening of November 7th and leave the afternoon/evening of November 9th. The workshop will run from 9 am - 5 pm November 8th and 9 am - 2 pm November 9th.

Phishing Awareness: Report it!
A large-volume phishing attempt is targeting students. It can be identified by 3 key features: it appears as a “reply to” message, the body does not contain a greeting or signature, and clicking the link directs you to an unrecognized site. If you believe you’ve been sent this or any other phishing message, don’t click any links! Please forward it directly to
report-phish@osu.edu and ensure your computer is up-to-date with security updates. If your email or computer begins behaving strangely, contact the IT Service Desk at (614) 688-4357 or stop in one of the BuckeyeBar locations in Thompson Library, and Tech Hub.

The nine-minute video provides important updates to the university’s original safety tutorial released in 2015. The safety of our students, faculty and staff is our top priority and we encourage all Buckeyes to watch.

New Academic Integrity Resources
As Ohio State embraces online learning and assessment, new resources are available to ensure academic integrity.
Proctorio
, for example, was selected as the university’s enterprise solution for remote proctoring earlier this year. But proctoring is just one way to protect the integrity of our courses. Teaching strategies such as authentic assessments challenge students to demonstrate their knowledge in new ways, and also deter misconduct. Instructors should pull from a broad toolset of academic integrity resources throughout their course.
