To Our Lake Forest High School Parents, Guardians, and Students:

As mentioned in the April 1 COVID-19 testing update message, we are continuing to monitor Lake County COVID-19 data, as well as the D115 COVID-19 Readiness Dashboard, as we consider future COVID-19 testing in our school.

In Consultation with the Metrics Advisory Council
To further discuss this matter, we met this morning with the District 115 Metrics Advisory Council to determine whether, following mandatory gateway testing, COVID-19 surveillance testing would be required or voluntary beginning Monday, April 12.

Together, we determined the following:

1.)  Gateway Testing:  All Lake Forest High School students are required to participate in COVID-19 testing or receive an approved exemption from Dr. Holland before returning to school for the first time following Spring Break. For those who have not yet done so, this remains a requirement with no expiration.

2.) Testing for Athletics and Other Extracurriculars: For the balance of the 2020-2021 school year, COVID-19 testing will be required once per week for all LFHS students participating in medium- to high-risk extracurriculars and athletics

3.) Voluntary COVID-19 Testing: COVID-19 testing will be offered to all other LFHS students and staff on a voluntary basis beginning Monday, April 12. We strongly encourage our students to participate in testing as part of our COVID-19 risk mitigation strategy. We will continue to monitor Lake County and local ZIP Code data and reserve the right to adjust our COVID-19 testing plans as circumstances require.

Finishing Strong
We are pleased to have the building bustling again with nearly 1,100 LFHS students – but that makes it more important than ever for us all to follow the health and safety protocols that we have in place. We ask those in the building to wear your mask correctly, watch your distance, and wash your hands frequently. Together, let’s keep our school open and finish the year strong!
