Fullerton College will help celebrate National Latinx Heritage Month with several events and workshops that honor the contributions of the Latinx community. Most events begin in mid-September and run through October, with some extending further into the semester.

President's Open Forum, Today, 2 p.m.
In an effort to encourage communication and strengthen teamwork across campus, President Greg Schulz has scheduled a series of Open Forums. The next open forum is today at 2 p.m. in Building 200, Room 224. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend.
Suicide Prevention and Awareness
Sponsored by the Sociology Club and Health Services, this workshop is on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m. in Building 1400, Room 1440 and is open to the campus community.

Meditation and Mindfulness Today
Join the campus community for Mindful Mondays at noon in the Art Gallery in Building 1000, Room 1004. Participants are invited to focus on the senses of touch, hearing and vision. The sessions, which often include meditation, is open weekly to all students and staff.
District-sponsored Workshop on Race and Class Inequity
North Orange County Community College District Office of Diversity and Compliance and the District Professional Development committee will co-sponsor a workshop titled Challenging the Culture of Cruelty, featuring well-known author and presenter Tim Wise on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wilshire Theatre. Four Skills of Cultural Diversity & Competence
The Pluralism, Inclusion, and Equity (P.I.E.) series offers workshops and trainings designed to increase intercultural competence to provide effective teaching and support services. The next event is Four Skills of Cultural Diversity and Competence on Friday, Sept. 28 at 9 a.m. in Room 1427. Fall 2018 Staff Development Workshops
This semester, Staff Development is experimenting with a new approach to delivering professional learning. Rather than offer workshops on a variety of days and times throughout the semester, Staff Development will provide a few focused days of learning in a "mini conference" format. The first mini conference is on Wednesday, Sept. 26 and Thursday, Sept. 27 from 2-5 p.m.

Halloween Costume Drive Seeking Donations

After an 85-0 rout of Santa Ana at home on Saturday, the Hornets will hold on to the key for another year. Fullerton came out swinging in the 96th Key to the County game scoring at will on all but two possessions.

Women's Volleyball
The Hornets continued their winning ways last Friday night at home beating Orange Empire Conference rival Santa Ana College 3-1. Up Next: FC (6-1 overall, 1-0 OEC) will play at Saddleback College on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m.
Women's Soccer
The FC women's soccer team played very well at home against Orange Coast last Friday defeating the Pirates 1-0 in an OEC matchup. Up Next: The Hornets will host Santa Ana College on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m.
Men's Soccer
Fullerton won on the road last Friday beating Orange Coast College 1-0 in an OEC game. Up Next: FC will hit the road again on Tuesday to play against Santa Ana College at 3 p.m.
Men's Water Polo
Fullerton won three games out of four over the weekend at the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament. On Friday, FC knocked off Ventura 9-5 and then Southwestern 22-11. On Saturday, the Hornets lost in a close one to Sierra 13-10 and then beat El Camino 11-10. Up Next: The San Diego Mesa Tournament Sept. 21-22.
Men's Cross Country
Don Knabe Regional Park in Cerritos was the limelight for the Southern California Regional Preview Championships last Friday. The men finished in 22nd place with 569 points. Mauro Rosales finished in 21:22 for 53rd place out of 313 runners. Ryan Sheatz, William Gerard, Andrew Fernando, Ian Rusk, Matthew Worrall, and Eugene Cooper rounded the top seven runners. Sean Wing came in right behind Eugene and Erick Hernandez followed. Up Next: The Golden West Central Park Classic at Central Park in Huntington Beach at 11 a.m.
Women's Cross Country
The Hornets finished in 15th place with 377 points at Don Knabe Regional Park in Cerritos last Friday. There were 191 total runners and FC's own Rebeca Perez finished in 35th place with a time of 20:38. Raquel Aldama was second to cross the line in 21:22 and 21 spots later came teammate Briseyda Lopez Martinez in 21:58. Ashley Lord was 23:01 and 34 runners were in between her and Martinez. Finishing for the team was Kimberly Estrada Rodriguez in 27:03. Up next for the Hornets! Golden West Central Park Classic at Central Park in Huntington Beach at 10:15 a.m.

This show features the work of the Art Department faculty in a variety of styles and media, which reflects the richness of the department. Faculty work diligently to provide students with strong foundational skills, while also pushing students to strive for new and more advanced modes of expression. The department hopes that students and community members who visit the show feel inspired to continue creating art and sharing it with the world.
