The Wait Is Over! 'Hamilton' Opens at
Boston Opera House on Sept. 18th!

The Broadway smash hit, Tony Award-winning musical "Hamilton," will make its Boston debut at the Boston Opera House on Sept. 18th. Tickets have sold like hotcakes, but you can still get a shot at seeing Lin-Manuel Miranda's masterpiece.

The musical is based on Ron Chernow's biography of Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton was an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War, was a Founding Father and America's first Treasury Secretary.

The show blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway, to have America's present tell Hamilton's story from back in the 1700s.

There were lines down Washington Street the morning tickets went on sale in June and the excitement is warranted, says Downtown Boston resident David Maister, who leads Broadway singalongs at the Paramount Center. " We saw 'Hamilton' in NYC, and it deserves its reputation -- it's truly magnificent.  We're not fans of rap/hip-hop music and went to the show with some trepidation. But it was not a problem -- the music is the least of the show's virtues. Rather it's the story, the costumes, the staging and the dancing. You get caught up in it early on and never come down until the end."

"Boston has a rich arts and cultural history and Downtown Boston residents are thrilled to welcome 'Hamilton' to the neighborhood," said Rishi Shukla, a founder of the Downtown Boston Residents' Association. "There's an excitement about this show that is palpable and unparalleled. Boston has played host to its share of incredible concerts, exhibits, and championship sports teams but this is the first time I've heard so much buzz around a Broadway show. My wife and I were lucky to secure tickets online and look forward to a great show this fall."

"The Downtown Boston BID is excited about having 'Hamilton' come to our city for the first time ever. Our Ambassadors will be stationed in the Theater District and throughout the area to recommend restaurants, provide directions, or anything else that we can help with to make visitors feel welcome, whether they're in Downtown regularly or if it's their first visit," said BID President & CEO Rosemarie Sansone

"Hamilton" will be at the Boston Opera House through November 18th. Also, if you haven't purchased tickets there's still a chance get $10 tickets on the day of show! There will be a release of 40 $10 tickets for every show -- click here to learn more.  Click here for showtimes and more info about the musical.

'Last Seen' Mural Depicts Gardner Museum Stolen Artwork on Bromfield Street

Next time you're walking down Bromfield Street check out the "Last Seen" mural created by Sophy Tuttle that depicts a famous Rembrandt painting stolen during the infamous Isabella Stewart Garden Museum heist in 1990.

Tuttle's mural of Rembrandt Van Rijn's "Christ In The Storm On the Sea of Galilee" is one of several murals throughout Boston as part of the "Last Seen" podcast created by WBUR and The Boston Globe. The podcast is about the infamous heist that is still unsolved.

The mural is due to a partnership between the Downtown Boston BID, WBUR and The Boston Globe. We would like to thank Midwood Investment & Development for allowing the mural to be placed on their building at the corner of Bromfield and Washington streets.

There will be at least one other mural depicting a famous stolen art piece in the BID. Where it will be is part of the mystery...
Kohi Coffee Company Now Open with
Takeout Window

The Kohi Coffee Company opened in August and recently debuted a takeout window on the 125 Summer Street Plaza (the store entrance is inside 125 Summer St.). This is the Provincetown based company's fourth store and second Boston location.

The company's name, Kohi (pronounced co-hee), is how the word coffee is pronounced in Japanese. There is also a Japanese influence in the store's design and manually made coffee.

"We make one cup of coffee at a time right in front of you. So it's fresh and made to order," said General Manager Margaret Dixon. "We serve coffee that highlight the individuality of where they come from."

Dixon said the business sells Portland, Maine, based Tender Coffee Roasters, as well as rotating guest roasters. The store sells pour over coffee, espresso based beverages, cold brew, chai tea latte and a selection of hot and cold teas.

Freshly baked goods made in Kohi's offsite kitchen, such as cookies, savory scones, banana bread and seasonal muffins are also sold.

The store is open 7 am to 7 pm on Monday through Friday and 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday. Click  here  to learn more about the Kohi Coffee Company.
