Thank You for Helping Us Raise $115,000!
Thank you so much to all the Spartan families who donated to the Empowering Extraordinary annual campaign. We are excited to announce we surpassed our goal! This was possible because of your generosity and the generosity of our community and local businesses. Empowering Extraordinary raised $115,000 to support Sedgefield Middle School! This campaign will fund the PTO operating budget and the capital needs for the school. In the coming weeks, we will begin highlighting how these funds are being spent to support our school.

We would like to thank our corporate sponsors who helped make this campaign a success. Their sponsorships not only supported the PTO, but also provided over  $8,000  in funding to the Hoplite Athletic Booster Club. Thank you so much for your support!

Linchpin of the Month Award: September
Are you a linchpin - the kind of person indispensable to your customers, peers and organizations? Someone who can figure out what to do when there's no rule book?

Each month this year, SMS will recognize the teachers, staff and administration that embody the school theme "Be a Linchpin." Based on the book "Linchpin: Are You Indispensable?" by Seth Godin, the Linchpin of the Month award will highlight those making a significant contribution to the school, students, staff, parents and the community.

Congratulations to Ms. Meighan Erickson, the September Linchpin of the Month Award recipient! In her second year at SMS, Ms. Erickson is a member of the elective team and teaches Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) classes. Ms. Erickson was recognized for consistently going above and beyond in her role. Whether it's searching for books that engage her scholars, assisting the testing chair, or developing her own PBIS events, her leadership, team work and overall “plus one” work ethic on behalf of our scholars is commendable.
Calling All Volunteers!
SMS has many opportunities for volunteer engagement. If you haven't already, sign up for these rewarding opportunities. Many positions can be handled from home, while others provide an opportunity to connect directly with parents, teachers, students and staff.

Link Your Harris Teeter VIC Card
Through Harris Teeter's Together in Education program, SMS has the opportunity to earn funding when you link your Harris Teeter VIC card. Cards must be linked yearly to benefit our school. Linking your VIC card is easy, quick and doesn't cost you a thing.
