SEXUAL HARASSMENT:
Creating and Maintaining
Safe and Professional
Work Environments

OCTOBER 5, 2018
HOPKINTON, MASSACHUSETTS (Boston Area) _____________________________________________________
TOPIC:

The topic of sexual harassment, hostile work environment, and unprofessional behavior has taken center stage in the media in recent months. Most governmental entities address, train, and regulate in this area, but we can do more to cultivate, promote, and maintain professional and safe working environments.

This 8 hour course is designed to help participants understand applicable law, identify and correct offending behaviors, appreciate how to effectively deal with complaints and those affected, and how to create and sustain professional and collegial working conditions.

Through the use of lecture, interactive discussion, and examination of actual and hypothetical situations, the instructor will guide participants toward a more thorough understanding of the impact of discriminatory behaviors and how to foster healthy and safe professional working environments.

Training topics will include:

  • Overview of applicable sexual harassment laws and potential liability.
  • Identifying abusive behavior and how to address it.
  • How to conduct an honest assessment of institutional culture.
  • Examining scenarios and solutions.
  • Creating and enforcing effective policies.
  • Ensuring reliable and effective reporting procedures.
  • Maintaining integrity during the investigative process.
  • Protecting the accused and the accuser.
  • Guarding against retaliatory action.
  • Developing practical and consistent mechanisms for fostering professionalism.
