4) I have side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine, what should I do?
If you have received the COVID-19 vaccine and are experiencing side effects, contact the provider you received the vaccine from for support.
5) Once I receive the vaccine, can I go back to regular activities?
With most COVID vaccines, you need a second dose to achieve immunity. After receiving the first shot you are still at risk of illness. Once you receive the second dose you should have immunity for an extended period of time; however since the strength of immunity varies from person to person and there may be a risk of vaccinated persons spreading the virus without becoming ill themselves, we urge everyone to continue social distancing and masking measures until the national health emergency designation is lifted.
6) What can I do now to help protect myself from getting COVID-19 until I am able to get a vaccine?
To protect yourself, follow these recommendations:
- Wear a mask over your nose and mouth in public places or around others outside of your household
- Stay at least 6 feet away from others
- Wash your hands often. If you’re not able to wash your hands then hand sanitizer is sufficient in a pinch.
- Avoid poorly ventilated spaces such as inside of others’ homes, public buildings, etc.
- Avoid crowds
