The COVID-19 Vaccine
The questions you've been asking...
 1)   Does RWWC have the COVID-19 vaccine to give to our patients?
Rittenhouse Women’s Wellness Center DOES NOT currently carry the COVID-19 vaccine.

Distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines is being handled by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Initial supplies will be limited and provided to certain facilities that can enact mass vaccination.

2)   I have 'this’ condition. Does this qualify me to get a COVID-19 vaccine now?
Complete the COVID-19 vaccine interest form here: https://covid-vaccine-interest.phila.gov/

The form will ask some questions to determine when you are able to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The information entered on this form will be kept confidential with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health and will only be used to connect you with where you can register to receive a COVID-19 vaccine in the near future.

3)   Where can I get the COVID-19 vaccine?
Complete the COVID-19 vaccine interest form here: https://covid-vaccine-interest.phila.gov/

The form will ask some questions to determine when you are able to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The information entered on this form will be kept confidential with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health and will only be used to connect you with where you can register to receive a COVID-19 vaccine in the near future.

4)   I have side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine, what should I do?
If you have received the COVID-19 vaccine and are experiencing side effects, contact the provider you received the vaccine from for support.

5) Once I receive the vaccine, can I go back to regular activities?
With most COVID vaccines, you need a second dose to achieve immunity. After receiving the first shot you are still at risk of illness. Once you receive the second dose you should have immunity for an extended period of time; however since the strength of immunity varies from person to person and there may be a risk of vaccinated persons spreading the virus without becoming ill themselves, we urge everyone to continue social distancing and masking measures until the national health emergency designation is lifted.

6)   What can I do now to help protect myself from getting COVID-19 until I am able to get a vaccine?
To protect yourself, follow these recommendations:
  • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth in public places or around others outside of your household
  • Stay at least 6 feet away from others
  • Wash your hands often. If you’re not able to wash your hands then hand sanitizer is sufficient in a pinch.
  • Avoid poorly ventilated spaces such as inside of others’ homes, public buildings, etc.
  • Avoid crowds

In the event of exposure or symptoms of illness, follow quarantine guidelines

We will stay in touch with you, adding vaccine-related updates, educational materials and FAQs to our website and newsletters with information on how to get your vaccine as we learn more about its availability. We are not scheduling appointments for the vaccine at this time.

Coronavirus Quarantine and Eating Disorders
The month of February brings us National Eating Disorders Awareness Week. For most of us, this is the first February that we will be spending in a pandemic.

If an eating disorder could choose its favorite environment, it could do no better than the stay-at-home orders issued in many states to combat the coronavirus. Fear over health? Check. Fear around food? Double-check. Social isolation? Triple-check. Combine all this with economic volatility and an international sense of dread, and eating disorder behaviors seem to have a big advantage over recovery. In short, coronavirus quarantine and eating disorders: it’s a perfect storm.

When life as we know it is suddenly upended, it is going to be difficult for most people. For those with eating disorders, who often tend toward greater rigidity rather than flexibility, it is especially challenging.
