DAN MCDONAGH
Science Teacher, Athletic Trainer

Dan McDonagh has been with St Joseph High School since 2004. He currently teaches Biology, Honors Chemistry, and Sports Medicine. Mr McDonagh earned an MS in Athletic Training from Ohio University and a BS in Sports Medicine from Castleton State College.

In addition to teaching, Mr McDonagh serves as an SJ Athletic Trainer and a Health and Wellness Mentor. Mr McDonagh can often be seen assisting students in the trainer’s office while simultaneously hosting a study session. Last year, he earned The President's Award from the CT Athletic Trainers Association for springing into action when a game spectator began displaying symptoms of a heart attack to provide immediate life-saving action. We are grateful for Mr McDonagh’s support of all students in the classroom and on the fields!

FAFSA Introduces a New Mobile App!
Over the summer, the Department of Education unveiled two new ways to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form: a mobile-friendly version of the fafsa.gov website and a mobile app.

The myStudentAid mobile app can be used to complete the FAFSA form. The FAFSA form is vital for students and parents to be considered for college financial aid, including federal loans, grants and work study.

Save the Date: St Joe's Financial Aid Night will be on October 15 at 6:30PM.

Librarian Recommended: Book of the Week!
That's Not What Happened by Kody Keplinger
Three years ago, the students of Virgil County High School experienced the unthinkable: a mass school shooting. Now, the survivors are writing letters about their experiences that day, how it affected them afterwards, and their relationships to the victims. One of the victims, Sarah McHale, is known around the world as the Girl with the Cross Necklace, who died defending her faith. As her family prepares to write a book about her and her last proclamation, Lee-the protagonist and Sarah's best friend-feels that she needs to speak up and reveal the truth about Sarah. In a time where mass shootings have been all too common, this story gives a voice to the victims and survivors and explores how the truth can be different for people who suffered the same tragedy.
