Arts Funded in Every State, Six Organizations in Vermont

Six of our state's cultural organizations were recognized for their work through Arts Works G rants from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). Local funding went to:
  • Kingdom County Productions, Barnet ($15,000)
  • Marble House Project, Dorset ($10,000),
  • Vermont Studio Center in Johnson ($10,000)
  • Middlebury College in Middlebury ($10,000)
  • Sandglass Center for Puppetry and Theater Research, Putney ($15,000)
  • Governor's Institutes on the Arts, South Burlington ($20,000).
Federal support for the arts strengthens communities across our state. We are proud to partner with the NEA to ensure that all Vermonters have access to the arts and creativity in their lives.
Challenge America Grants from the National Endowment for the Arts offer $10,000 awards to organizations that can extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations. The application is open.
A Little Theater Gains Big Recognition

Let's give a shout-out to Lost Nation Theater in Montpelier. They are the recent recipient of five (yes, five!) Broadway World Regional Awards. Among many honors, Lost Nation was named Theater of the Year.

The organization was nominated in all seven professional theater categories, and took the honors in five. The decision was made by judges and public voting.

Congratulations LNT. You've made us proud!

2020 Vermont Artists to Watch in Spotlight Gallery

Ric Kasini Kadour has curated a new exhibition in conjunction with Vermont Arts Guide #11. Echoing previous Artists to Watch shows, he contacted ten arts professionals in Vermont and posed this question: "Which artists are creating contemporary art that commands attention?"

In vivid response, works by J Blackwell,  Mark Collier, Trevor Corp, Brian Fekete, Patty Hudak, Susan Larkin, Kathryn Lipke, Misoo, Steve Sharon, and Kathy Stark hang in the Council's Spotlight Gallery through March 27, 2020.

NOTE: Due to weather, the Gallery will not be open for Art Walk December 7.

The Vermont Arts Council is funded, in part, by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts , which requires a 1:1 match from the Vermont State Legislature. Council grants, programs, and statewide arts promotion would not be possible without the critical funding provided by these government agencies.
