The discussion will be preceded by a brief introduction to 100 Women in Finance (100WF) by CEO Amanda Pullinger. 100WF is a global organization with nearly 20,000 members worldwide that empowers women to achieve their professional potential at each career stage through education programs and networking opportunities.

Hear about the mission of 100WF, as well as the benefits and importance of a global peer network for senior practitioners, mid career and early career finance professionals.

This virtual event will be conducted in German and is open to all women financial professionals in Germany, regardless of membership in 100WF.

Birgit Ludwig
Managing Director, BlackRock

Birgit Ludwig, Managing Director, is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for BlackRock’s business in Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe based in Frankfurt. BlackRock is one of the leading asset managers in the region and the local footprint of the firm represents a microcosm of the global firm’s sales, investment, technology and advisory activities. In her role, Birgit is responsible for the effective operation of the region. This includes driving country strategy, operational change management, regulatory platform management, governance, finances and the regional talent agenda. Birgit has worked in the financial industry for over 2 decades across retail banking, investment banking but mostly asset management and spent the majority of that time based in London. Birgit’s service with BlackRock dates back to 2007. She held various roles across a number of functions, from business operations to investments most recently as EMEA COO for their multi-asset investment solutions business, before relocating to Frankfurt into the country COO role in June 2019. Prior to joining BlackRock, Birgit held various roles within the Rates Derivatives operations at the Investment Banking division of JP Morgan Chase based after she completed the firm’s Business Management and Operations graduate program. Her professional career began in Germany at Landesbank Berlin where she has qualified as 'Bankkauffrau' in 1999. Birgit earned a MSc in Money, Banking, and Finance from the University of Birmingham as well as a 'Diplom-Kauffrau' master's degree in Economics from the Free University of Berlin.

Amanda Pullinger
Chief Executive Officer, 100 Women in Finance

Ms. Pullinger is the Chief Executive Officer of 100 Women in Finance. She leads a staff team and provides direction to 500 volunteer practitioners globally. The organization, which now has nearly 20,000 registered members in 26 locations, is focused on empowering women in the finance industry and inspiring the next generation of pre-career young women. Ms. Pullinger is a former principal of Aquamarine Capital Management, where she was responsible, over a period of seven years, for managing marketing, investor relations and back office administration for two private investment funds. Ms. Pullinger is Chair and Non Executive Director of the Board of FlyPlymouth, based in Plymouth, UK. She also serves on the Boards of the HALO Trust (USA), the American Friends of The National Portrait Gallery (London) Foundation and as a Director on the Oxford University Alumni Board. She is President of the Brasenose Society, Vice Chair of the Women’s Network Forum and an Advisory Board Member of the Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance (Harambe). Previously, she served as Chairman of the Board of The HALO Trust (www.halotrust.org) and served on the Board of Langone NYU Cancer Institute. She was on the founding Board of 100 Women in Finance, serving as its President for two years. She is a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Ms. Pullinger graduated from Brasenose College, Oxford University in 1987 with an Honours Degree in Modern History. She earned an MBA from La Salle University, Philadelphia, in 1998, and received the Academic Award for MBA student of the year as well as the Beta Gamma Sigma designation.

Olga Braun-Cangl
Senior Portfolio Manager, Allianz Global Investors

Ms. Braun-Cangl is a senior portfolio manager at Allianz Global Investors. She joined the company in 2008 and contributed to shaping of Alternative Investment capabilities from the different roles, as a Senior Alternative Investments Consultant, Alternatives Business Manager and Senior Private Equity Specialist, in Munich and New York offices. In her current role she drives the development of the Private Debt effort at Allianz Global Investors and serves institutional clients through creating customized Global Private Debt solutions and managing the Global Private Debt comingled fund. In her prior roles he supported executive management advising on potential strategic acquisition targets and M&A opportunities. Previously, Ms. Braun-Cangl was a portfolio manager and hedge fund analyst at Berenberg Bank and UniCredit. She earned her Master of Science from the University of Munich in 2002 and continuously continued her professional education through participation in dedicated programs like ebs Hedge Funds advanced program (2005), CAIA (2011) and Private Equity executive education (2018).

Nadia El Jazouli
Associate, BlackRock

Nadia El Jazouli is a member of the EMEA Corporate Communications Team. Nadia is an Associate based in Frankfurt and supports our Corporate Communications efforts in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Eastern Europe. She helps to expand BlackRock's presence in the media across the region and across all corporate business priorities. Before joining BlackRock Nadia worked for the PR agency NewMark Finanzkommunikation where the was working for several clients in the financial industry. She served as lead spokesperson of the Franco-German banking group ODDO BHF in Germany. In this position she established the reputation of a unique European banking project and gave strategic advice in critical communication issues. She also oversaw the media relations and committee supervision of Frankfurt Main Finance e.V., the financial center initiative to promote Frankfurt in preparation for the Brexit referendum. Prior to joining NewMark, Nadia has worked as a research assistant for a member of the German parliament and spent a year abroad gaining international experience in Montreal, Canada. Nadia graduated from the University of Marburg.

Fatana Maywand
Relationship Analyst, Wellington Management

As a relationship analyst at Wellington Management, Fatana is responsible for supporting the firm's relationships with wealth management clients, prospects, and distributors in Germany and Austria. Her responsibilities include assisting clients with long-term investment strategy and resolving day-to-day client issues, as well as regularly participating in meetings with clients to discuss investment- and business-related issues. Prior to joining Wellington Management in May 2018, Fatana worked at ODDO BHF based in Frankfurt as Sales Support (2016 – 2018). Fatana graduated from Johannes Gutenberg-Universitaet Mainz with a master’s degree in Management. She is fluent in German, English and Farsi.

Verena Heming
Vice President, BlackRock

Verena Heming, Vice President, works in Digital Distribution Germany for BlackRock. She is responsible for developing business with the Personal Investor and online D2C business in Germany. In this role, Mrs. Heming works on the distribution of iShares ETFs and index funds, BlackRock active funds as well as services and solutions to online banks & brokers, multi-channel-banks, digital advisors (RoBo advisors), fintechs and platforms. Furthermore, she supports digital distribution partners in other countries in EMEA in leveraging the digital expertise from Germany. Prior to BlackRock she held roles in Private Banking and Investment Advisory at Berenberg Bank. Verena Heming graduated with a Master in General Management from EBS Business School, Germany. Verena also leads BlackRock’s Women Network in Germany.
