HATCHspaces
In a September 5th press release, HATCHspaces joint venture partnership with Singerman Real Estate announced the acquisition of the 160,980 square-foot Think Here campus located at 1525 and 1535 Rancho Conejo Boulevard. The two-building campus includes 29,000 square feet of R&D space and another 18,000 square feet of office space suited for biotech and life science tenants.
The Nook Restaurant
The Nook Restaurant, serving breakfast and lunch, opened in the Ralph's shopping center located at 579 N. Ventu Park Road.
Southern California Builders
SoCal Builders relocated their offices from the City of Westlake to the Gate One building in Thousand Oaks, located at 2625 Townsgate Road.
Thousand Oaks Unemployment
According to the California Employment Development Department, the preliminary Thousand Oaks August 2019 unemployment rate is 3.0%, down from 3.4% in July 2019. The City has a total of 64,100 in the labor force with 62,200 who are employed.
Ventura County Unemployment
The California Labor Market report shows Ventura County's August 2019 unemployment rate is 3.9%, unchanged from a revised 3.9% in July 2019.

A total of 1,000 non-farm jobs were added in August 2019; however, 900 jobs were lost, amounting to a net gain of 100 jobs. The loss in jobs includes: 600 in leisure and hospitality; 200 in trade, transportation and utilities; and 100 in manufacturing. The gain in jobs includes: 500 in professional and business services; 400 in educational and health services; and 100 in construction.
Auto Sales
A total of 1,770 new vehicles were sold in August 2019. New vehicle sales increased by 10.9% from July 2019 and increased by 5.4% from a year ago. Additionally, 825 pre-owned vehicles were sold.

The City's General Plan update process will provide meaningful opportunities for residents to share their ideas on a wide variety of topics. This continuous engagement will help to ensure the updated General Plan represents the community's voice.
