Arrowhead Recreation Area - Closed of the Season
|
The Arrowhead Recreation Area is now closed for the season.
We were hoping to get in one more weekend but it was not in the cards for us this year. We have made the decision to not open this weekend and close for the season. A combination of the weather, slope conditions(continual thawing and freezing), parking lot conditions (mud) and staffing concerns have led to this decision.
We apologies for having to cancel but the end of the season is not always a clear cut decision.
Looking ahead to 2021-2022 we hope to have a less stressful season and return to regular operating conditions and hope you are able to visit us or volunteer next season and to help celebrate the Arrowhead Recreations Club's 20th year of providing Skiing, Snowboarding, and Tubing for the Greater Claremont Region and beyond.

Stevens High School Alumni Association News
|
The Alumni Board changed the date for this year’s celebration from June to October 2, 2021. We hope that the Covid19 will be under control by then so we can go ahead with plans to celebrate our 150th Anniversary.
We launched a new Alumni Web Site on March 1 st. The new site is a vast improvement for a few reasons:
The site has been completely redesigned and is now much more user-friendly and informative.
Alumni now have the ability to provide us their email addresses by creating an account at the site. This will allow us to communicate more efficiently with our alumni going forward.
Another great feature of the site is that alumni can now pay their annual dues and make donations with their credit cards on the site. We think alumni will really appreciate this feature and the convenience it offers via our secure PayPal checkout process.
The March Alumni Meeting has been changed from March 17th to March 24th. 5:30 pm at the Alumni Office

City of Claremont Boards, Committees and Commissions
|
Boards, Committees, and Commissions play an integral role in the community. They are comprised of citizens who generously volunteer their time and expertise. Being a city volunteer is a way to participate in community affairs, to work with interesting people, and to aid in Claremont's development.
Anyone who is a Claremont resident and would like to offer their services is welcome to apply for a seat on the Board, Committee, or Commission of their choice. The City Council, Mayor, or City Manager appoints new members according to the method dictated by city policy.

Sullivan County Pictures Project
|
In a way to help show off our region, one of the projects I’m collecting pictures for is to highlight on county war memorials and to display these in a video on our Sullivan County New Hampshire Government Facebook page and through the video banner of pictures on the website www.sullivancounty.gov during Memorial Day weekend 2021.
Yes, lots of advance planning 😊 as I hope to collect pictures capturing all our New England four seasons! If you have, or know anyone who has, pictures that would be great for this project, please feel free to send the pictures to commissioners@sullivancountynh.gov with info about where the memorial is located and who took the picture.
P.S. War memorials are not the only pictures we would enjoy receiving. If you have other scenic views of the region, don’t hesitate to share those, too. Thank you.

Older Adult Volunteer Award Now Accepting Nominations
|
The nomination period is now open for the NH State Commission on Aging and EngAGING NH annual “Older Adult Volunteer” awards! Nomination submission accepted up until Friday, March 19, 2021.
The goal is to celebrate and recognize individuals or couples over the age of 60 who are volunteering in ways that serve to build strong communities. Through engaging ourselves and others we weave connections that contribute to and strengthen our communities.
Celebrating the contributions of people demonstrates the difference any one of us can make at any point in our lives on the lives of others. This year more than ever, we need to celebrate each other. Please take the time to make a nomination!
THE PROCESS:
-
Use the nomination form (found here) returning it by Friday, March 19th to: Rebecca.Sky@nh.gov
- A joint committee of the Commission and EngAGING NH will review all nominations and select one person or a couple from each county to be honored.
- A Virtual Awards Ceremony will be schedule during the month of May in observation of Older Americans Month. Governor Sununu will be invited to participate in the presentation of the awards, schedule permitting.
- Every nominee (not only the award recipients) will receive a letter of commendation to let them know that they are appreciated by their community.
It’s been a challenging year. Please use this opportunity to contribute to a celebration of people in our community who helped us to persevere through it.
