Integral Transformative Practice International
  - Summer Newsletter 2014 -

Dear Friends,

"Practice, the path of mastery, exists only in the present. To love the plateau is to love the eternal now, to enjoy the inevitable spurts of progress and the fruits of accomplishment, then serenely to accept the new plateau that waits just beyond them." - George Leonard

Summer is ripe for enjoying the seeds planted in the darkness of winter. We can romp, play and relish long, light-filled days. Summer is also a time to celebrate the strides we have made and to soak up the joy. With all the challenges we face daily as global citizens, we are fortunate to have our practice and community as a re-awakening of hope, creative possibility and renewed commitment to all that we hold dear.

In this newsletter, enjoy reading about the "fruits of accomplishment" with our initiative to bring Mastery teachers to ITP groups for specialized trainings and support. Learn about our recent LET customized program for clients from Japan, a testament to our teaching team and ITPI's consulting expertise. Take in highlights from our wonderful Chicago events with our Greenheart partners and get headlines on upcoming events, including our wondrous Golf in the Kingdom Marathon held in September. Come out and play!

We, at ITPI, affirm that you are witness to your own unique genius and are grateful for the positive impact you have on the lives of those around you. Thank you for being part of our growing circle around the globe.

With peace and love,

Pam Kramer

ITP Doubleheader in Chicago!

by Tim Cleary

Mastery Teacher and ITP San Rafael Group Co-Leader

This past May, the ITP Mastery team hit the road for an historic double-header in Chicago - a day and a half Mastery Intensive on May 28-29 followed by a three day Leadership Transformed 2014 retreat co-sponsored by Greenheart International and ITPI.

The Mastery Intensive was a deep dive into the heart of ITP's core practices - the Kata, Staying Current, Affirmations, and LET (Leonard Energy Training). The 32 attendees enjoyed a
spacious "teaching" Kata each morning, preparing the mind and body for the learning to follow.

Mastery Intensive Testimonial

My experience at the ITP Mastery Intensive workshop is unparalleled. I came away feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, blissfully happy and more deeply illuminated with regard to my path. Since then, I have resumed a daily practice of meditation, affirmations, some Katas as well as fairly intensive physical workouts and some energetic work. All of it is very uplifting and has helped me to begin to shape a plan going forward for my personal and business path which I am excited about.

"Curating awesomeness" is how improv actress Rachel Hamilton described her role at the Leadership Transformed 2014 retreat.  She and fellow presenters, Penney Peirce, Indira Freitas Johnson and Katia Peterson, invited participants to experience the familiar in new ways. These experiences were bookended by Greenheart's Emanuel Kuntzelman and ITPI's Pam Kramer. What were the raw materials?  Four "P"s stand out for me:

Place:  In the heart of downtown Chicago, we convened at Loyola University, part of whose mission is "to expand knowledge in the service of humanity through learning, justice and faith."

there is no more effective teacher than the body."

We were honored to provide a customized Leonard Energy Training (LET) program this month to a wonderful couple from Japan, LoAnne and Stan Olson. Inspired by their study of George Leonard's work, the Olsons have been conducting ITP-related sessions in their home in Tokyo for many years. Their interest in learning more about LET was spurred on by their decision to create a "gap year" program for high school graduates to prepare them for their next phase of life - be it college, work or personal explorations.

As LET teaches practical, alternative ways of dealing with life situations using the body as teacher, the Olsons felt it was a perfect fit for young people who are seeking to find their way in the world.

Deepening Practice, Expanding Connection

by Donita Decker and Roger Marsh

Mastery Teachers & GLEE Facilitators

Mastery members attend our robust 9-month program for a variety of reasons - to deepen their personal practice, develop as group leaders and to cultivate ITP teaching and coaching abilities.

With Mastery now in its 6th year, our teachers are primed to teach the practice as well as to consult ITP groups to transform and flourish. To support the collaboration between Mastery teachers and ITP groups, ITPI has launched an exciting initiative to bring Mastery teachers to individual groups to conduct local, customized training sessions and workshops. A menu of suggested offerings will be coming out soon.

This special program allows Mastery teachers and ITP groups to work together on a personal basis, expanding the depth and impact of practice and mutual support among practitioners. If you want more information about having a Mastery teacher visit your group or conduct a special training in your city, please contact us and we will be glad to review opportunities with you.

"Why We Love Closers"

Heroes are the ones who win the day, and everybody loves a hero. But there's a special breed of hero we admire the most: the Closer.

Closers are the athletes who love the action when everything is on the line - when winning and losing hang in the balance. They are the guys and gals we trust to get the job done when it's most challenging, because even if they don't win, the one thing we can count on is that we know they will give it everything they've got.

ITP Commitment #5

I am conscious of everything I eat.

In The Life We Are Given, George and Michael write about food being more than sustenance. They write, "It is the centerpiece of our holiest ceremonies, the primary instrument of bonding among family, friends and tribe." Being mindful of everything we eat allows for the relishing of flavor, a spirit of appreciation and the blessing of life itself.

How did you become involved in ITP?

Back in 2003 I heard Michael Murphy speak at an evening program put on by CITP. It coincided with the beginning of a new cycle and I was invited to join. ITP was a really good fit for me at that time because I had been reading Michael's book The Future of the Body and material on affirmations, which interested me as a kind of antidote or contradiction to entrenched negative beliefs.
