THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
REV. SALLY FRITSCHE
Sunday, November 15 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream
When it comes to sex, many religions seek to suppress knowledge and understanding of our bodies, identities, and health. Thankfully, Unitarian Universalism is different! Our commitments to comprehensive sex education, LGBTQ representation, and reproductive justice, are longstanding and deeply rooted in our UU values. Join us for an affirmation and celebration of those values, as well as a historical framing for the ongoing effort to protect these basic freedoms and rights today.

SUBMITTING JOYS AND SORROWS

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.

Join our online Zoom Fellowship Hour after the service on Sunday (around 11:30 a.m.). Come chat with UUCUC members and friends! All are welcome.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
Your contributions and support allow us to continue to respond with love and resources to the needs in our congregation and the wider community. We couldn’t do it without your support and we are grateful to each of you.

If you have missed any of the previous live streamed services, you can view them at https://uucuc.org/livestream-at-uucuc/ (they are listed towards the bottom of the page). You can also view previous live streamed services on our YouTube channel.

UUCUC'S "BUDDY SYSTEM"
Staying connected while
UUCUC facilities are closed

During this time of social distancing, staying in touch and checking in with each other is going to be very important. We hope you will consider being part of our "Buddy System" so we can care for one another.

You can sign up here: https://uucuc.breezechms.com/form/2184f1. Buddies will check in with each other regularly by phone to provide connection, companionship, and connections to help if needed. This is a great way to help each other.
JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, November 8.

From Sally Fritsche: A candle of healing for Jessica Auguston, who had sinus surgery on Thursday. Recovery is going smoothly, with lots of naps and some hearty meals provided by UUCUC's Care Core. We're thinking of you, Jessica!

From Paul Weston: Thanks to Sally Fritsche’s inspired suggestion made at the end of last Sunday’s fellowship hour, I abandoned my evilly glowing computer screen last Tuesday, Election Day, to roam the sublimely peaceful space of the Sangamon River Forest Preserve. Enjoying the supreme artistry of nature at its best has the power to, for a while at least, restore the soul.

From Jerry Carden: Remembering my brother, Steve, he would have been 69 today. He left us way too early 29 years ago.

From Sam Beshers: Joy for the election result, which means that there is an opening for at least the next four years to plan and decide how I can best work for social justice, and that I don't have to be part of a resistance against our own government.

From Jim Hannum: Our daughter--in-law, Miryam, will become an American citizen this week. Miryam and our daughter, Christy, live in the DC area.

From Amy Hassinger: It's such a joy to have something to celebrate! And especially to be a part of this hopeful, hard-working community! Love to all!

From Elizabeth Simpson: Joy for the people who came together on Wednesday to connect and ground in solidarity to protect our vote. I fully believe it has been our collective clear stance that prevented much greater trouble than we’ve seen. Let’s keep it up!

From Julie Laut: Please keep my best friend, Meliah, and her daughter, Aurelia, in your thoughts as Meliah begins chemo and radiation for multiple myeloma.

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service each Sunday. They will be read aloud.
GIVING AND GRATITUDE
UUCUC Social Action Offering. Each month a selected organization is chosen to receive offerings from our congregation. You may donate to the social action offering for the month in one of the following ways:

During the month of November, our monthly social action offering will support the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee. UUSC is a 4-star nonprofit organization that strives to center the voices of people most affected by injustice.

They create relationships with frontline grassroots movements across the world that support marginalized communities. This work is especially important during this global pandemic. UUSC is providing flexible support to their grantee partners around the world and encouraging their partners to pivot as needed in response to the pandemic. Now and following the pandemic, UUSC will support self-determination and defend the rights of people displaced due to climate, conflict, oppression, or economic hardships. Read more.
RECENT SHARED OFFERINGS

During the month of October 2020, Cunningham Township Angel Donor Fund was selected to be the shared offering. The UUCUC congregation contributed a total of $1,500 that month!

This Angel Fund was launched in 2018 by Cunningham Township to provide life-saving support for township program participants who have one-time miscellaneous needs that fall outside existing programs. All donated funds go directly to secure food, clothing, house, power and transportation.
