Reflections with Fr. Mark
Human beings are made in the image and likeness of God.  However, how often do we treat one another with that level of respect? We often lose perspective in our journey and begin to focus on superficial realities or prejudices rather than the truth of our origin. Jesus attempted to focus on a person’s character rather than a person’s outward appearance, ritual practices, or “cleanliness.”  What do you focus on?

In our journey of life and faith we are called to be the change.  But before we can be the change, we must be willing to change ourselves.  What have you been meaning to change in your life?  Pope Gregory XV was in the papacy for only a couple of years, yet he made great changes, including establishing the first missionary organization of the Holy See:  The Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith. In the gospel today, the Pharisees and scribes questioned Jesus: “Why do your disciples not follow the tradition?”

Does “the tradition” blind you from Tradition? Has the sentiment, “but, we always do it this way” prevent you from being the “change” that is needed to truly see God? Contemplate your team: Jesus or the Pharisaical flowerpot.

Spiritual Reflection: “You are made in the image and likeness of God.”
