It was one year ago when everything changed at the First UU Society - the pandemic moved into our lives, and we all moved out of the Meeting House. A look back at some of what’s happened, some of what we’re still learning, and some of the questions ahead as we get ready for what comes next.
If you received a “mystery“ bag in the mail, bring it along! If not, any bag will do. We will be exploring mysteries as we reflect on the Big 4 C’s: Curiosity, Change, Compassion and Conscience. Along with this, we will have time for joys and concerns, a thematic skit by puppet friends, and more. Geared towards children and their families. Parents/caregivers are welcome to participate or not, but should be nearby if younger ones need help unmuting, All are welcome. Curious? See you there.
As most of you know, Coffee Hour happens from 10:45 a.m. until noon every Sunday. Towards the beginning of coffee hour, participants divide into breakout groups to continue connecting. For the remainder of March, if you join Sunday coffee hour on Zoom by 11:05 a.m. (at bit.ly/3j4RxJ9), we're offering the option of an additional way to experience the hour.*
Coffee Hour Circles, an offering of the Caring and Belonging Team, will last the full hour, with a facilitator holding space for a slightly more structured time of check-in and reflection on the service, amongst 6-10 participants. Time will be shared as participants take turns speaking and listening. In the spirit of offering many ways to connect, we hope these Circles facilitate deeper connection as well as personal reflection on the topic of the day. For those drawn to this model, we welcome your participation and feedback!
*Folks arriving after 11:05 a.m. can still join a regular coffee hour breakout room!
Winter Vespers Series
Rev. David Ruffin, Consulting Minister
Our Winter Vespers Series will continue next week on Wednesday, March 10 at 6 p.m.
Vespers services are an opportunity for any in the FUUSB community, and friends, who seek a sacred pause mid-week to connect with self, one another, and what inspires us on our journeys. We share music and meditative silence, poetry and presence, gratitudes and griefs, breath and blessings. And laughter, too. Though we can't meet in person, we can still be together, sharing these gifts of renewal. Come as you are. All are welcome. Join us on Zoom at this link: zoom.us/j/91243888402
Or for audio only, call (646) 876-9923 (meeting ID: 912 4388 8402). If outside the Northeast, find your local number at zoom.us/u/aeaJZdoB8

As Rebecca Anderson settles in to her new living situation, she would truly appreciate phone calls from the people she knows and loves in our congregation. She may not remember the call the next day, but in the moment, she feels joy and connection to our faith community. We have set up a schedule for calling using Meal Train, where you will find details.
A couple of meals a week continue to be a wondrous gift to her family as they adjust to these deep changes in Rebecca's life. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Please contact Sarah Weber with any questions: (802) 373-0197 or [email protected].

It is with great sorrow that we share with you that longtime First UU Society member Miriam (Tammy) Strauss has passed away. Miriam will be remembered for her generous spirit, determination, bright smile, and her lovely hats. She was always so grateful for this congregation's loving care and support. A memorial service was held on March 3 on Zoom, officiated by Rabbi David Edleson.
