PURPLE LINE CONSTRUCTION UPDATES
Brookville Road/Lyttonsville Place - Crews will be at the Lyttonsville Place Bridge at 7 a.m. and heavy construction will occur from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays through August. On or about August 6, crews will begin pile driving at the Lyttonsville Place Bridge correlating to the demolition and rebuilding of the new bridge. Work will be completed during regular work hours between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Silver Spring International Middle School - Crews have closed the parking lots at Silver Spring International Middle School through August to reconstruct the lot configurations and provide new entrances to the school. The upper and lower parking lots will reopen when school begins in the fall. Pedestrian access to the school will be maintained. Work will be completed on Saturdays during regular work hours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Long Branch Area - Saturday work will continue at the Plymouth Street Tunnel through August. Crews will be on site at 7 a.m. and heavy construction will occur from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On or about July 30, blasting for excavation work could begin at the Plymouth Tunnel (in between Arliss St. and Wayne Ave.) and will continue, when needed, for approximately nine months. As the construction team approaches conditions that require blasting, a 24-hour advance notice will be given ahead of the actual blast. Rock conditions vary in the tunnel area and the team has committed to conduct blasting only when needed.
