Celebrating Residents' Achievements

Resident "G" had a February full of firsts!

In the month of February, Resident "G" gave birth to her son, graduated from our Maternity Program, got engaged, and moved into her first apartment. Wow! That's a busy month for anyone, but additionally so many "firsts" to tackle in such a short time. We couldn't be more proud of how Resident "G" handled everything.

A big thank you to Lutheran Church of Hope's Furniture Ministry and several other individuals who donated furniture and household items to help Resident "G" furnish her apartment.

"Walking beside Resident 'G' and witnessing her growth has been a privilege to us," shared Stacy Terrill, Ruth Harbor's Program Director.

During her stay at Ruth Harbor, Resident "G" secured a job and will continue with that company going forward. Resident "G" also showed exceptional growth both emotionally and socially. She became an encourager, friend, and game partner to her fellow residents, adding humor and laughter to the home.

"'G' was known to joke around and give others—House Parents and Program Director included—some ribbing from time to time," added Stacy. "She also was quick to express her appreciation for Ruth Harbor and her journey here. She has firmly established herself in all of our hearts"

A "Full Circle" Moment
Terri N. (pictured right) and her family donated several items to help furnish resident "G's" new apartment. Terri is the mother of a former resident (Catey from 16 years ago). While Catey and her parents have been supportive of the ministry for many years, there was something truly special about their desire to "pay it forward" when Resident "G" needed help.
You Should Get To Know
David Dominguez, Board Member
We welcomed David to the Ruth Harbor Ministries Board of Directors in December 2020, along with Chris Eller, who was featured in February's eNews.

David was born in Honduras to missionary parents, met his wife, Wendy, when they were both in high school, and they were married while in college. David and Wendy moved from Honduras to Arkansas, and eventually Iowa, which according to David is the farthest north he desires to live! David works in Construction management for a commercial contractor.
David joined the Ruth Harbor board because he believes Ruth Harbor provides an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus for women with unplanned pregnancies.

"The Bible talks about when we tell those in need, 'be well and warm,' but we do not provide for their need, that we are not really doing anything," shared David . "Ruth Harbor helps turn the desire to help into a reality. I do not want to sit on the sidelines and complain that someone needs to do something about it—I need to be a part of those doing something. Ruth Harbor gives me an opportunity to be a part of the solution."

David and Wendy have five children that keep them very busy, but in his spare time, David enjoys bike riding, golfing and fishing. He is also very active at his home church, and enjoys the opportunity to teach now and then.
