Wheelock MAP March Newsletter
Welcome to March! Is it winter? Is it spring? Who knows! What we do know is that February break was awesome! It was a much welcomed departure from zoom and remote learning for everyone! It felt like what MAP was nearly a year ago...the MAP we left before the world changed. As we look forward towards another potential pivot from the school, that past version of MAP seems closer than ever. We will continue to monitor the schools developing plans, and will keep you informed as our plans come into focus. As always, we thank you for your continued cooperation!

As they say, "hope springs eternal" - so we can hope we're ever closer to the MAP we once knew!

Anyways...on to the Vacation Fun!
Spy Day
Our first day was SPY THEMED! Our agents started the day by getting their own code names which they went by for the remainder of the day! From there, they created their own bases throughout the room - where they spent a lot of time brainstorming all sorts of elaborate security systems for! We offered codes hung around the room for them to try and break, and ended the day with some secret agent training where they had to crawl through "lasers" to grab the intel!

Cardboard Creation Day
We kicked off our day of creation with a little inspiration from a young man named Caine! While spending his summer at his dad's used car part shop, he passed the time by building an entirely cardboard arcade. One day an independent film maker came to shop...and what happened next is a heart warming and truly inspirational story! Check out the video here!

Our kids got their creative juices flowing by creating their own arcade games! We had foozeball, air hockey, a frisbee game, and even a feeding the robot game! Super creative and fun!

Among Us Day
The "whodunit" mystery game Among Us is wildly popular with our kiddos - and they enjoyed a day of space mystery fun! They created their own Among Us maps, tasks, and characters! We spent the afternoon engaging in a real time Among Us game, with tasks put through out the room for the crews to accomplish...but one was an imposter! Able to sabotage tasks and able to eliminate other players by winking at them - things got interesting QUICK! The round table "Emergency Meetings" where players tossed out accusations and pled their innocence was fascinating to see play out!

Our final day we spent enjoying the wizarding world of Harry Potter! Many of our students and staff alike are large fans of the series! Charlotte and Jack brought in a ton of Harry Potter items from their personal collections including the actual Sorcerers stone, a snitch, and even a Pygmy Puff!

All the kids got sorted into houses, made wands, learned spells, and got to play some Quidditch!

For the month of April 2021, Medfield Afterschool Program will receive a $1 donation from each purchase of the $2.50 reusable Community Bag at the Big Y store located at 1111 Providence Hgwy, Walpole MA and Shaw's store located at Shaw's 230 Main Street, Medfield MA.
April Vacation is going to come faster than you think! We recently sent out a sign up google form for parents to register their children for that week. This is a special sign up event! For our planning purposes it is important for us to have an accurate idea of how many children we have each day!

We've noticed that our kiddos are asking us to borrow supplies more frequently - notably scissors and glue. We are also photocopying a lot of sheets throughout the day from class mates.

Please make sure they have their supplies, their computers charged, and work in their folders before they come to MAP! Thanks!
