Worship This Weekend

On this World Communion Sunday, Rev. Jim Warren's will talk to us about Matthew 9:10-13, with the theme, "Eating a Real Meal in a Fast Food World."   About his sermon, Jim says, "The table invites us to dine with Jesus. The meal we have in Christ's presence stands in vivid contrast to the hurried, junk food meals we often have. This sermon will invite us to be intentional in sitting at table with our Lord."

Come hear him preach at the 9:00 traditional service or at the 10:15 progressive One and All service.

The Gift of Music for the traditional 9:00 a.m. service will be presented by Cameron Kidd, soloist.  At the One and All service at 10:15 a.m., the band will be playing some favorites.  We will have coffee and an array of pastries prepared for you.  Find it all in Fellowship Hall.

Can't attend either service this Sunday?  Tune in on Facebook (go to our Facebook Page), or on our website ( www.blmfcc.com) to see a live stream!  You can watch the 9:00 a.m. service and worship along with those at FCC Sunday morning!  This capability is still in its testing stage, so please be patient with any glitches.  We welcome critiques and praise!  Be sure to tell your friends!

Things to Do While
You Are at Church

Sign Up for Third Thursday Food and Fellowship, which will meet at 5:00 p.m. at Tony's Restaurant on South Main in Bloomington on Thursday, October 17. Be sure to indicate how many are attending on the attendance pad (right-most column) or call the church office by 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 15.

Sign up for the Fall Blood Drive (Tuesday, October 22, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.). There is a great need for donors, so please consider signing up soon at the Info Desk, or by calling Maggie at the church office or answering Pete Whitmer with a YES when he calls.

Drop off a Donation of Halloween Candy for the Downtown Trick or Treat event, which FCC is participating in.  A container will be located at the Info Desk for the candy until the October 25 event.  Also consider participating by doing a "Trunk or Treat" in our parking lot!  Julie Robinson has the details.

Drop off a Donation of Laundry Detergent for the Regional Alternative School.  They have made a special request, and Reach Out will deliver what we can collect for RAS, our neighbors to the south.  You may leave your detergent donation at the Info Desk.  Thank you!

Sit Toward the Front at the 9:00 a.m. Service.  Please move up a few rows or move from the back area to the front area so that the viewers on our livestreaming broadcast can see that we have good attendance!  Let's show them how excited we are to be at FCC and maybe they will join us!

Support Operation Santa! The ladies of the Disciples Women's Ministries have been sewing Christmas Stockings to send to our Military.  We need help in filling these with requested items.  They would like black crew socks and 4"-7" beef jerky sticks. We will be collecting these items through October 20.  Thank you for your donations.

Drop Off School Supplies and Other Items for School Children. Reach Out is collecting supplies for Sheridan School and Bent School Teachers have requested a number of specific items.  Please find a detailed list of needed items at the Info Desk.  Some examples:  Ziploc gallon bags, paper towels, plastic shoeboxes, glue sticks, tissues, pens, and Playdoh.  Also, gently used tennis shoes, coats, clothes for kids to change into in case of accidents, and new boys' and girls' underwear are needed.

Pick Up a Third Thursday Food and Fellowship Schedule at the Info Desk.

Volunteer to Help Around FCC.  Find signup sheets at the Info Desk.

Drop off your Box Tops for Education in the Disciples Women's Ministries mailbox outside the church office door.

Make a new friend!  Greet a visitor. Greet someone another member has greeted!  Several contacts truly make a person feel welcome.  A great resource for helping a visitor is the bulletin, and you can also walk them to the Info Desk for another warm greeting,  more information, and a welcome gift!
