Fall Mock Interview Event

On November 14 th , SEEC hosted our Fall Mock Interview Event. The Montgomery College Administrative Offices in Rockville graciously provided four rooms for SEEC to use as our Mock Interview Panels. Each Panel sat two interviewers who drew upon their interviewing experience and expertise to provide job seekers with individualized feedback and guidance. During the three and a half hour event, we were able to host mock interviews for 24 job seekers. These job seekers consisted of members from all four of SEEC’s Project SEARCH programs, The Ivymount School, and individuals receiving supports from Employment Services. The interviewers consisted of an awesome team of 14 local professionals—many are members of SEEC’s Business Advisory Council and others are community members who were engaging with SEEC and the people we support for the first time! We are looking forward to the next Mock Interviews which will take place this coming Spring.

Strategic Pillar Highlight
Workforce
by Lori Sedlezky
SEEC values the work that staff do daily to support people with disabilities to live their desired lives. SEEC is striving to learn more, try new things and be recognized as a leader in how to support and respect this valued workforce.
SEEC is committed to ensuring that all staff are valued and respected in their work and these are principles on which this organization was built. Traditionally, we have used these words when talking about supports to the people with disabilities. If our services are built upon respecting and valuing each person, we must demonstrate these values when interacting with all staff. SEEC’s commitment to staff will be reflected in the commitment and quality of support provided to people with disabilities.
SEEC will ensure opportunities for all staff to be the best they can be at their jobs.  This means that SEEC will provide ongoing opportunities for staff to gain knowledge and further develop their skills. SEEC is committed to the ongoing learning and development of all staff, whether through building a mentoring program, a community of practice, or annual training days.
SEEC strives to have an inclusive culture, recognizing the perspective, insights and opinions of all staff, whether they be DSPs or the Executive Director. Through a participatory culture that values and respects its workforce, SEEC will be a stronger organization.
Gratitude Week at SEEC!
This is the time of year that we think about what it is that we are thankful for. Here at SEEC we are appreciative of our many partners and spent a few days expressing our gratitude. The week of November 19 th , SEEC went out in the community to thank some of our partners for their contributions to the work and mission of SEEC.

Tuesday we thanked our friends at Signal Financial for helping our employees and sponsoring our fundraising events! We appreciate how Signal Financial is always willing to assist employees with establishing accounts and offer free financial literacy classes for employees. They also participate in SEEC’s Open Enrollment and provide lunch! We at SEEC appreciate our partnership with Signal Financial.

Wednesday we thanked Jubilee Association of MD, Inc . Jubilee has been an integral piece of the MDDSP Training Consortium and our partnership to credential DSPs and equip them with the tools to provide higher quality services for the persons we support. Jubilee has had a very active role in curriculum review, program scale-up, and establishing the norms and culture of the training program. Thank you, Jubilee, for your contributions and continued collaborations.
