Saturday, September 8

COEURfest 2018 is a new festival to celebrate
our amazing North Idaho community. Organized by the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce, it will be an all-day event held at McEuen Park the Saturday after Labor Day. The designers of this event want the participants to
"observe, learn and do" in seven different "experience" areas that highlight the North Idaho lifestyle and what makes our region so special.

An All American Experience Area will be presented by the Washington Air National Guard. Planned is a Fairchild Air Base fly over, preceded by a flag ceremony. Various displays and exhibits will feature the life and duties of air guardsmen and women

Branched off this Main Experience will be six other themed experiences (or areas).

  • Epicurean Experience will showcase North Idaho's great food offerings with food demonstrations, wine, craft beer and cider, and local restaurants.

  • North Idaho Natural Resources Experience You'll find lake and water sciences, farm life, timber industries and tribal exhibits. North Idaho is rich in Natural Resources and you'll find it in this experience.

  • Let's Get Physical Experience is everything we love outdoors about North Idaho, including lake activities, hiking, biking, rafting, rock climbing, and outdoor yoga, North Idaho has it!
  • All the World's a Stage Experience will showcase the arts, with artists, musicians, writers and filmmakers. Children will participate in several hands-on art experiences.

Health Advisory Warning for Fernan Lake

KOOTENAI CO., ID -- Panhandle Health District (PHD) and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) have issued a health advisory for Fernan Lake. PHD is urging the public to use caution when recreating in or near the water. Water quality monitoring confirmed the presence of cyanobacteria, commonly known as blue-green algae. Blue-green algal blooms have the potential to produce dangerous toxins in areas of the lake. Pets, children, the elderly, and people with compromised immune systems are most at-risk of harmful exposure.
