Houston's greatest energy resource is entrepreneurial energy!

In the past we've spoken about success being expressed as "havin  fun, makin' money and doin' good."

That equates to high quality of life, high standard of living and high return to the community.

Let's focus on your return to the community for this session and while there are many, many ways of achieving this, I'll suggest your community's chamber of commerce.

We indexed chambers of commerce in and around Houston a number of years ago.

You can find them here:

https://www.servicesca.org/HoustonProudChambers.htm
and here:
https://www.servicesca.org/HoustonProudAreaChambers.htm

My suggestion is you go check several out to see if there is one you'll find yourself comfortable with and, if so, join it, become active on one of the chamber's committees and use your actions on that committee as your return to the community.

Being active in your local chamber of commerce creates higher visibility in the community.

Join us on July 15th for your choice of a   virtual morning business meeting via Skype (Houston Crossroads) or a traditional seated Business Building Breakfast   and share what you're up to in the community!

1799
A large slab inscribed with three different languages, including hieroglyphics and Ancient Greek, is discovered by a soldier in Napoleon's Egyptian campaign. Once part of a monument from 196 BCE, the  Rosetta Stone will be the modern world's key to deciphering ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics.
1834
Instituted by King Ferdinand II and Queen Isabella in 1478, the dreaded  Spanish Inquisition  finally comes to an official end. Preaching a doctrine that ordered conversion to Catholicism or exile, and employing torture and death sentences, the Inquisition will not be missed.
1870
The United States is once again made whole as Georgia gains representation in Congress, making it the last of the former Confederate states to be readmitted to the Union. It's a watershed moment for  Reconstruction, but the process of healing after the Civil War will remain arduous.
1997
Just back from a morning walk, Italian style icon  Gianni Versace is shot twice while on the front steps of his Miami Beach, Florida, mansion. The fifth and final victim of  Andrew Cunanan's multi-state crime spree, Versace will be mourned by family, friends, and a shocked fashion industry.

Since 1983!
We operate entirely without grants, gifts, donations, contributions
or public funding. We don't have our hand out and we are NOT
your tax dollars at work!  We're independent business owners,
entirely self-funded and very proud of it.  Our startups have won virtually every award for business growth in Houston, some
nationally and some   even internationally.  When you want
assistance with your business, seek only those who have actual hands-on business ownership experience. You'll be glad you did!
A not-for-profit cooperative association of independent businesses, founded from an economic development research project on the
importance of startup business development conducted by the
Houston Chamber of Commerce in the late 1970's.

Since our first Co-Op meeting held March 14, 1983, we've worked with 65,647
people, generating 45,131 tips, leads, referrals and items of new business, generating revenues exceeding one billion dollars, founded the Entrepreneurial Development Center - Houston's first and Texas' oldest small business incubator and co-working space, First Houston Small Business Seed Capital Fund - literally the first small business seed capital fund in Houston, the Womens Business Center - first business incubator for women business owners in the United States with residency space and the Virtual Business Center - the first remote business incubator in the world - all totally without public funding, grants, gifts, donations or contributions.

Co-Op companies have won virtually every award for business growth in Houston, some nationally and some even internationally.

Our Entrepreneurial Research conclusively demonstrated A) "entrepreneurship" could be taught in a classroom environment, resulting in colleges and universities, globally, commencing entrepreneurial courses and B) that women starting businesses were seeking a hand-up and a level playing field rather than a hand-out or charity and C) that business incubators actually accelerated business growth resulting in the next generation being named accelerators and D) incubators/accelerators could be entirely self-sufficient by charging a modest royalty interest in client companies and that entrepreneurship was color blind and gender neutral.
