A Tasty Learning Experience

Our 4th grade students will be showcasing their Math, as well as their culinary skills on November 8th with the "Taste of Buford" day. Students have created and budgeted for restaurant space, supplies, and have calculated the costs to make their restaurant a success. We will culminate the lessons with a real sampling from all of the restaurants created by our brilliant mathematicians.

Note the Time
Due to the upcoming holidays, the Buford School Board meeting for the month of November will be at 12:00 noon on November the eleventh. Be sure to make note of the time. We hope to see you there.
An Extra Hour of Sleep!!!!

For some of us, this is a long awaited time. That's right, on Sunday, November third we will roll back those clocks one hour and gain an extra hour of snooze time.

Veterans Day is a time for us to pay our respects to those who have served. We stand united in respect for you, our veterans. We celebrate and honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
"Liberty comes at a price and the men and women who serve our country are willing to pay that price for our freedom and for peace. Today, we thank you, we salute you, we honor you Veterans!"
Mrs. Dasher (not Dancer, not Prancer) and all her elves have been preparing all year... (well, at least since July) for students to come and shop for all of their loved ones at the Secret Santa Shop. The shop will be open for business from December 2- December 4. All gifts will be $3.00/each. What a great way for kids to get that shopping done early! Details will be coming soon!
Parent Survey
The Georgia Parent Survey contains 24 questions. We ask that you participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous, self-reported, and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.

Strong4Life Health Tip!
Let's cut to the chase: Kids who eat right and stay active will feel better, do better in school and in sports, and face fewer health risks. In Georgia, nearly one million children are overweight or obese, putting them at risk for diseases once seen only in adults, such as heart disease and diabetes. Furthermore, many of these kids are getting bullied and are suffering from low self-esteem and anxiety. Children should get at least one hour of exercise every single day.
