WCC Opposes Pharmacist Prescribing Contraception Bill
On November 20, the WCC testified in opposition to Senate Bill 286 (Sen. Kathy Bernier, R-Chippewa Falls), which allows pharmacists to prescribe certain hormonal contraceptives, on the grounds that it could negatively impact women's health, alter established medical standards, and impact the individual conscience rights of pharmacists.  On November 7, on a vote of 82 to 13, paired 2, the Assembly passed the companion bill, Assembly Bill 304 (Rep. Joel Kitchens, R-Sturgeon Bay), which now awaits action in the Senate.

Governor Evers Signs Bills Supported by WCC
Last week, Governor Evers signed two bills that the WCC supports.  Assembly Bill 22 (Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt, R-Fond du Lac) allows 17-year-olds who are homeless and unaccompanied by a parent or guardian to admit themselves into a shelter or a transitional living facility (2019 Wisconsin Act 27).  Assembly Bill 54 (Rep. Mark Born, R-Beaver Dam) permits previous warning of school fire drills if it is in the best interest of the students (2019 Wisconsin Act 39).
