Stewardfest
Thank you to everyone who came to Stewardfest on August 25! We explored various aspects of stewardship through presentations on care of creation, spiritual gifts, annual response campaigns, and more. A special thank you to Pastor Sharon Walker and Christ, Kokomo, for your hospitality. We will have more Stewardfest events in the near future - we hope to see you there!

Peer Ministry Training
High School students (grades 9 -12) as well as adults who work with and support them are invited to Peer Ministry Training on Saturday, October 13, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Church of the Nativity in Indianapolis. This training is open to any congregation of the Indiana-Kentucky Synod and is co-sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis. The trainer will be Chad Senuta (see
www.peerministry.org). Students will learn practical skills for welcoming and communicating with others. The cost is $25 per person and includes lunch. Register by contacting Pastor Dan Fugate at

Hymn Festival
This event is free and open to the public. Any donations benefit the Samaritan Counseling Center's Client Assistance Fund, helping members of our community gain access to the quality mental health care they need.
Our Saviour, Princeton, IN., "God's Work. Our Hands." Project
The congregation began the collection of Lutheran World Relief school supplies for the backpacks the month of August and Martha Krohn began sewing the backpacks to their specifications at that time as well. On Sunday, Sept. 9th - "God's Work. Our Hands." Sunday, the congregation worked together to put the string in the backpacks, sort the school supplies and put the items in the packs per the LWR specifications. The goal was 30 bags....42 were completed!!! Our Saviour will also be sending funds to LWR to help cover their shipping cost to ship the backpacks to those in need around the world.
"God's Work. Our Hands." Sunday
Members from Messiah, Cross and Crown, and Cross of Grace joined forces with First Trinity to clean up two pocket parks in their community and 5 elderly neighbors' homes. They got rained out but will return on a drier, sunnier day to get the job done.
Members of Messiah, Bethlehem, and Cross of Grace worked with First Trinity to spruce up their community despite the rain.

Christ Lutheran Church Hosts Charity Farmer's Market
Christ Lutheran Church is hosting a Pop-Up Charity Farmer's Market on Sunday, September 16 from 12pm-3pm at 600 N Ford Rd in Zionsville. Church members are making items to sell at their tables and donating their time. All proceeds will benefit charities such as the Boone County Caring Center, Habitat for Humanity, Lutheran Disaster Response, and Lutheran Child & Family Services.
Items available for purchase include: fresh local produce, gluten-free goods, pulled pork lunch, fresh baked goods, handmade lip balm, soap, bath bombs, handmade gift items, walking sticks, haircuts (adults), pet supplies, homemade pickles, jams, pesto, spice mixes and rubs, and used children's books. Get your car washed by our youth and listen to live music while you shop.
We will accept cash, check, or charge. Event is on, rain or shine!

A Hymn Festival and Workshop on Mental Health and the Church
SPONSORING GROUP: The Association of Lutheran Church Musicians and Christ the King Lutheran Church of South Bend, Indiana
DATE & LOCATION: Friday and Saturday, October 5-6, 2018 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 17195 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46635 (ND football is AWAY this weekend!)
COST: Registration (including meals) is $45 (only $20 for students!)
This ALCM-sponsored Hearts, Hands and Voices workshop will focus on our vocation as church musicians and the role church music can play in the lives of those who are journeying through mental illnesses towards recovery and wellness. This event will take participants through various topics, such as: self-care for the music minister, finding and utilizing healing hymns and liturgies, and planning music for healing services, such as a Blue Christmas Service. Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend Christ the King's 5th Annual Hymn Festival of healing and Hope on Friday evening, October 5th at 7:00 pm, where participants can see much of what they encounter in the weekend's break-out sessions put into practice. Other highlights include: a performance by the University of Notre Dame Children's Choir, a service of morning prayer, and the presentation of a new hymnal supplement - a resource inspired by Anton Boisen's 1950 collection entitled Hymns of Hope and Courage.

Discernment Event
Savanna Sullivan, Program Director for Young Adult Ministry for the ELCA, is hosting a discernment event for Lutheran young adults age 18-30ish at Lutheridge, a Lutheran camp in North Carolina, from November 16-18, 2018.
It will be "conversations about vocational discernment, how faith formation continues into young adulthood (whether or not seminary is a part of that journey!), community building, and worship. So, no, folks don't have to be headed to seminary to join us. All are welcome!"
