Hello from the Executive Committee Chair: Arnie Streland
Dear SpEC Members:

What an amazing first year for the Space Enterprise Consortium! Still less than one year old, the SpEC membership has grown to almost 200 members, and over $63M in ceiling has been awarded through 20 separate Prototype Awards. It is increasingly difficult to attend an Air Force space event where a senior Air Force leader doesn't highlight the success of the Space Enterprise Consortium. This success is based on the combined efforts of the Space and Missile Systems Center and the SpEC Formation Committee.

I'd like to personally thank the entire Formation Committee for their tireless efforts in standing up and advancing the consortium. You have served our membership well and provided the best possible prototype solutions to our Government customers. What Mike Rokaw, Jason Kim, Michael McClelland, Gregg Burgess, Dan Hegel and John Hicks were able to build in such a short time is remarkable. The Executive Committee now has a well-oiled machine to take our customers and our members into an exciting future.

Now, as your newly elected Executive Committee takes the helm, SpEC begins its transition from the building phase into sustainment and growth. The first step for sustainment was to evaluate the consortium's financial health. Based on SpEC's successful start and bright forecast for FY2019, the Executive Committee has decided to reduce Project Award Assessments from 1.00% to 0.65%, and annual dues for large members from $7,500 to $2,500, beginning 1 October 2018.

The first focus area where the Executive Committee plans to dedicate its time and effort is on improving collaboration between the Government and the SpEC membership to help create more opportunities for our members. To that end, the SpEC General Membership Meeting will be held on October 16th at the LAX Marriott. This event represents the largest SpEC collaboration event of the year. Members will be provided the opportunity to discuss specific upcoming requirements with government project teams, as well as a venue to discuss teaming opportunities with each other.

The Executive Committee and I are excited to meet all of you in person at the General Membership Meeting. Please search us out if you have questions or comments about how we can better serve you. With your help we are ready to take SpEC to the next level.
Cheers,

Arnie Streland

Reduction to Award Assessments and Large Member Dues
For FY2019!
The Executive Committee has reduced both the Project Award Assessment from 1.00% to 0.65%, and the annual dues required for large member organizations from $7,500 to $2,500. Beginning on 1 October, the pro-rated Membership dues for new members will be:

Large Business:

All others:

a) October through March -
$2,500
a) October through March -
$500
b) April through September -
$1,250
b) April through September -
$250

Per the Consortium Membership Agreement (CMA), Project Award Assessments apply to all Project Award funding.  As such, all Project Award funding issued after October 1st, 2018 will be subject to the new Assessment rate of 0.65% regardless of whether that funding is the result of an existing or a new Prototype Award.

Expect to see an official amendment to the CMA prior to the start of Fiscal Year 2019, and anticipate membership renewal invoices to reflect the change.

Membership and Award Statistics
