Dear Beloved Community,

What does FLEx (Formational Learning Experiences) look like in Kindergarten?

Two essential learning targets are:

  • I can…join and serve within the greater community.
  • I can…practice building relationships in small but meaningful ways (through reading stories together, drawing pictures, writing stories, sharing poems/chants/songs).

During this unusual year of social distancing, sanitizing, and mask-wearing, how do we reach out to people in our community to show them God’s love and goodness? To show others that we care for them. Well, my “Deep Hope” is that my students will experience JOY while discovering about their Creator. My Storyline is “Kindergarten Explorers: Discovering God in big and little things”

We share every day about how to joyfully serve others and how to show God’s love and kindness. Our words are powerful. Our colorful and detailed illustrations are amazing! We can use our gifts and share them with the clients of The Renewal Food Bank in Bellevue. We sent the RFB a large envelope filled with our posters showing how we can be kind and loving to others, and that God loves them. The food bank serves over 300 families every week – and the need is even greater now.

While we are unable to visit the food bank in person this year, we can still show our support by bringing in food donations every Thursday for the food bank. Our children can discover the beauty and joy of community building in simple ways!

Jog-A-Thon Update
Hello Three Points Parents!

We have so missed seeing you, getting to know you, and physically being in community with you this year!

We had been hoping to share details with you about a spring JAT in this space. Unfortunately, COVID-19 continues to restrict our ability to gather or hold school events. In partnership with our school leadership, we have decided that it is not possible to hold our JAT this year. Teachers have shared this information with their students in class today.

We are hopeful that the 2021 JAT will occur next fall and planning will begin this spring. We are looking to build a team of parents who are excited and committed to making JAT 2021 a success. If you would like to be a part of this fun, community-building, and fundraising tradition please email Erin Boon for more information. erinboonpt@hotmail.com

Car Chute Safety
Reminders:

  • At morning drop-off, when pulling into the car chute, please stay to the far right, hugging the red curb so that others can get by you on the left to fill in empty spaces for temperature checks.

  • Before leaving the line on the right, check to be certain no one is passing by you on the left. We've had some close calls and we want everyone to stay safe.

  • At afternoon pick-up, please wait your turn and avoid going around to fill in empty spaces. Please patiently wait your turn to move forward and pick up your child(ren).

Thank you for your cooperation. Having everyone's cooperation helps us keep our students, staff, and families safe.
Attendance
Regular attendance during the school year is vitally important. Attendance is much more than a logistical footnote in the official school log. It's a matter of not only receiving a high-caliber education but also contributing to the learning experience, which is done in community.

We believe education is not merely a process of information transfer. It is a formational experience that allows all involved to participate, contribute, and benefit.

Sometimes it's a formal lesson, other times a side conversation with a teacher. There are also accountability and relational dynamics that can only take place in-person. When these elements are combined, the student is part of a holistic and relational school experience that just can't be replicated in another format.

However, if your child will be absent, please email your child's teacher, cc: threepointsoffice@bellevuechristian.org and include the reason for the absence.

You may also call the front office at (425) 454-3977. If your child will miss 2 days or more in a row (due to something other than illness), we ask that you complete a Planned Absence Form two weeks prior to the absence. Thank you.
Chapel
Our Director of Discipleship, Rev. Daniel Rogers, works to enhance the Christian discipleship and mentorship taking place at our campuses. Each week Rev. Rogers produces videos for students, prays with students, advises administrators, teachers, and staff, and works closely with students to help them discover their gifts and give them away for the Glory of God and others. You can learn more about how we support our student body spiritually here. Click below to watch this week's Chapel.
Preschool News
Science, Math, and Art! Oh My!

In one of Leo Lionni’s children’s books, a mouse, Frederick, stores up joyful colors to inspire his family during gray winter days. Our preschool 3s teacher, Mrs. Koorn, and our pre-k teacher, Mrs. Lowe, are bringing our classes new, bright joy through art.

Children are experimenting and mixing colors on the easel and through water play. They are also using artwork by Wassily Kandinsky as a reference to learn about concentric circles (math), mix colors (science), and create their own artwork for display. What a wonderful way to brighten our preschool classrooms!
